Vaughn is officially the worst player in baseball according to Fangraphs. Impressive April. They should just audition his spot in the lineup the rest of the year, give guys a month see what they can do.

Some of you guys are absolutely delusional. Vaughn is here because Getz is a coward and can't tell his boss he wasted 5.85 million. He has no trade value.

  • He is?? News to me

Seriously.  Back on topic, this dude needs time off at the very least.  Give him a reason to be on the IL, or a few days off.  Let him clear his head.  Try something different.

lmao he is saying that there was an equal opposite to himself.  Westeddy, EasternEdward

and now we ALL know your middle name 😂(not that it’s an embarrassing name)

Even better, all the kings of England for first names but it's JWE monogrammed sweater (but really JEW) which is funny since my mom was about the most devoted Catholic there ever was.

And back to Elko Talk!!!!!!

Getting more attention than even Micker Adolfo ever did, almost folk hero status at this point.

Definitely Palka Delmonico Tilson levels.

Brewers' fans melting down as Shane Smith headed towards All Star selection and can't for the life of them figure out another Sox player who would warrant a selection lol.

Caulfield riding the wave of popular negativity now has license for all kinds of wild theories. Guess Madrigal was Jesus Christ himself and got crucified except he couldn't perform any miracles with his baseball playing abilities. That was Getz job apparently to perform that miracle.

If you can pinpoint who were the biggest advocates of Madrigal but wasn't Hahn and KW the biggest wigs in charge then next to JR of course who loved David Eckstein so he could've insisted on the pick. Wild speculation is tabloid journalism or tabloid posting. There's a reason why they used to call that Yellow Journalism.

He can't possibly be worse than Vaughn right now. He's a better athlete if absolutely nothing else and can save a few balls from going into RF over at first.

I'm shocked they aren't any moves for tonight after yesterday's day off. Feel like it would have leaked/been announced by now.

Typically a roster move would be announced in the early afternoon.  It's not dead yet, but it might be soon.

I really believe it comes down to Getz not being able to say he wasted 5.5 million or whatever on Vaughn. He should just throw Hahn under the bus and say it was a terrible pick and blah blah DFA him.

I think this is spot on. They really can't carry Elko without removing Vaughn.

Possibly. Maybe he's still clinging to hope for trading Dalbec, Rojas, Vaughn , Robert,  Tauchman, Drury, Karinchak and whatever other relievers perform decently. There's just a bit too much veteran deference right now.

It's great Baldwin and Meidroth, Sosa, Smith and recently Vargas seem to found some sturdier footing but there's more that needs to be done if they want to get some more fannies in the stands once the weather warms up. Right now the line they're walking looking for turds to turn into silver is a little too fine for my liking.

Elko isn't that much younger than Vaughn and unless he wants the Sox to continue losing at another record setting pace he's got to take a chance on getting some more hitting into the lineup . Send Vaughn down.

And I would think that if the Sox had any online awareness, they'd understand the jolt Elko would put into a vocal part of the fanbase. They should have announced Elko yesterday, and gave everybody a day to buy tickets to the next 3 games.

Quero is actually the most hopeful addition.

How's that for negativity?

Vargas has played much better defense than expected and the offense is starting to slowly emerge.

Meidroth was fun for awhile but is a 2B.

Baldwin will be fine as a super utility guy but needs to learn a lot more at the big league level to be a net positive.

Sosa's really the wild card right now where it's easy to go back and forth on his pluses and minuses...still no closer to reaching a conclusion, but, once again....his defensive issues and IQ/instincts force him to be a 700-725 ops guy and not in the 600's.  But he's most definitely not a big league SS.

C  Quero/Teel

1B ???? Elko/Bonemer eventually

2B Meidroth

SS ???? Bonemer/Bergolla overly optimistic on both defensively

3B Vargas/J.Perez

LF ???

CF ???

RF B.Montgomery

DH rotating

Baldwin super utility

Ummm...they will sell more tickets to Brewers' fans in Chicagoland than overly optimistic Elko/Ole Miss fans.

Very very very few 1B have come up in recent years and just raked as rookies.  Kurtz was as can't miss as you get and he's still taking time to settle in.  Torkelson another example.  Maybe Pete Alonso as a rookie.

98% chance we don't even remember Elko's name three years from now, but it's the backup QB syndrome.  Until he actually gets exposed at the big league level.

The awareness of this organization is nothing. Members of the front office are always the smartest Baseball minds in the room. Even as they trudge on as now perpetual 100 game losers, they're the only ones who know what they're talking about.

I swear between Reinsdorf, and the baseball execs he recruits, they refuse to make moves just to spite the fanbase. Sometimes I feel there's no other explanation.

Fine. Let him get exposed. He deserves a shot. Let him have a good week up here until the league adjusts and he's sent back down. Let that process play out.

Every single White Sox Twitter account has been posting pix of little anime cartoon girls shedding a tear over Tim Elko not being on the White Sox for a month, now. Every podcast has been swooning over his AAA stats. Promoting Elko would get some fan coverage on social media and the podcasts, and cause as much excitement as could be fostered during a 110 loss season.

Nobody is predicting an MVP season once he gets here. Back in the days before sports talk radio, Joe Wallis or Scot Thompson would generate excitement among the Cubs' fanbase, just from their minor league cache.

While I agree we should call him up you're vastly overestimating the percentage of the fanbase represented on twitter and other online spaces. It's maybe 1/5 at most that is tuned into those areas.

Sure. I'm not saying you will have sell-outs, but it will create a bit of a buzz. The fact we've been talking about these red jerseys for weeks, now is attributable to online "influencers" actually giving a s%*# about it.

None of this matters.  Elko isn’t going to block someone who is more deserving of time.  Memorizing a guys name doesn’t matter.  The guy he is replacing has already been exposed.  The Sox lose absolutely nothing by letting Elko see the league and vice versa

there is literally nothing in the way of the Sox giving Elko a shot and you are acting like he is blocking the number one prospect in the minors for the next three years

They can though. They could carry four OFers with Baldwin able to play there, or they could cut Amaya with Baldwin and workman covering SS or they could cut Dalbec who would be redundant anyway

Carrying two 1B who are both right handed just doesn't make any sense regardless of the rest of the roster. Vaughn just needs to either accept a AAA stint, accept a fake IL, or just get DFA imo.

If I had to guess, Getz is a bit snake bit from last year releasing Pillar/Tim Hill, etc at their low points only to recover. He may be granting a longer leash...though with Vaughn we don't have to release him.

He's just earned the spot.

At least those guys you mention have had some kind of track record of success in their careers.
