2025-26 NFL Season Thread

I both want it resolved, but I do get annoyed at the PR push. It's great the bears just want infrastructure support, but --come on -- they are already at a location that has infrastructure support. They are asking the state pay to help them move when it is their choice to move.

In my world, because teams do not commit themselves to the state/city in these deals, I'd prefer the world where the NFL entity pays for these stadiums, and the owners are leased to the NFL, paying back with interest the investment of the NFL and back to those owners. The NFL would add real estate to its portfolio which it could use to gain access to more money for growth.
But that' snot how it is, the teams beg for money then still threaten to leave. It's also an infrastructure project that has little utility WITHOUT the team...so it's just such a stupid world. But Chicagoland is certainly better with the bears, and there are economic benefits to having a team that go beyond dollars and cents.

But f*** kevin warren and the mccaskeys. Fans are being exploited to drain every cent, then they want their political mind too.

I would also prefer to keep local governments out of it, because the fans and taxpayers end up getting screwed no matter what happens.

The way I understand this situation, though, is the Bears are funding the stadium. They want infrastructure help from the state (who owns that infra), and the state said its not a priority in 2026. Yeah, the Bears don't HAVE to move, but honestly they should. Soldier Field sucks to get to, the field sucks, it's tiny, and it's outdoors when most modern stadiums are domes. The city already blew their chance to keep the team in the city. The state should be trying to work with them on this but instead we get petty nonsense back and forth endlessly.

Days before their biggest game in years, Warren pisses on everything.

Warren will take a lot of heat, and rightfully so, but he’s not doing this without George’s blessing. The same George who held a meeting with rookies before the last Packers game to explain to them how important the Bears-Packers rivalry is. Lol.

DJ Moore needs to earn his contract this Saturday.

Kmet, Loveland and Zaccheaus need to step up now too.

Bears dominated GB in the second half with the running game, I want to see that from the get go, especially now that they are without Parsons.

Collectively the offense needs to be more in sync this time around. I expect DJ Moore to perform like he is paid and for the backups and other weapons to move the ball and execute this Saturday. They have to be in sync from the beginning if they want to beat the Packers. Don’t let the Packers offense get those explosion plays and the defense needs to live up to its identity if they expect to win.

The stadium thing is really easy.

The owners of the Bears do not have the wealth to build the stadium alone.  They need assistance or leverage the team.

They could save 30% if not more building in Indiana and probably at least 15% building outside of Cook County.

If the state is not going to help offset the cost of building in Illinois and Cook v Indiana they will not be playing in Illinois.

Indiana having two great domed stadiums while Illinois has no legitimate stadium in the entire state.

Illinois pisses away billions on nonsense.  This is a no brainer for Illinois and I do not care if Economists say it is not worth it.  A good amount of government expenditures are nonsense.
