the amount of dropped passes by Denver today is so reminiscent of the bears rams game, even the weather, and the 4th and short red zone pick instead of going for the field goal

crazy s%*#

Well at least we didn't end up in another 80s Super Bowl blowout which is what would have happened if we pulled it out.

It was a great run and I am proud of Denver's season.

Nix would have easily won this game with how our defense shut NE down.

The Chiefs finally missing the playoffs only to be rewarded with a Patriots Super Bowl. So so cool.

I mean, I get the timeline…but it’s still shocking that a 27 year old Sam Darnold led the Vikings to a 14-3 record in 2024 (4300 yards, 35/12 TD/INT) and Minnesota said “Nah, we’re good, let’s use a Top 10 pick on JJ McCarthy”

I don't think the Bears would have beaten Seattle for the NFC title but they definitely had a chance at beating either New England or Denver (especially with Nix out).

Seattle will demolish the frauds from NE though.

To be fair, they didn't know that Darnold was gonna do that last year when they drafted McCarthy.

Drake Maye's TD today and huge run to ice the game, BJ take note please, so many 3rd and 4th and short failed opportunities...for f*** sake take advantage of Caleb's running ability to get easy first downs and TDs, he can even get bigger plays play actioning off of those plays. I will kill myself if I don't see Caleb running more often next season in those situations lol

Darnold had a great season in Minny, one bad playoff game should not be the reason you move away from him. He's gonna hold up the Lombardi trophy in two weeks...lol at Minnesota

Yeah, I did sort of write that wrong. It was more the idea of deciding not to keep him and go all-in on JJ. I get it, hard to read what Darnold was at that point…but at the end of the day he was a 27 year old that just put up All Pro numbers for you at QB, and you let him walk for JJ. The ripple effect it has had is pretty amazing

I think the sentiment at the time, especially after their 2 straight losses to end the year, was that Darnold was just not good enough in big games and reverted to his old self when put under pressure. And that rang true even this year until their playoff games. That win against the Rams in the last few weeks of the season turned around Darnold's season.

I don't know if they were necessarily wrong to give the keys to McCarthy. If they really believed in the guy, they weren't gonna let him just sit under Darnold for multiple years. They did offer to keep Darnold on a short term deal at around the same AAV that the Seahawks offered him. But if you're Darnold, why would you stay for less guaranteed money and have a guy behind you constantly threatening your job?

Obviously, it didn't work out for the Vikings. But I think their issue was more that they didn't have a true backup plan to McCarthy going to s%*# or getting hurt. Carson Wentz is not a viable backup to a guy who didn't play a lot of snaps in college and is coming off a knee injury.

It’s just, you better be absolutely sure on JJ.  And it didn’t seem like they were sure on JJ as much as they were sure KOC could make him into a pro bowl qb, and it did not happen at all.  If they didn’t have that defense, it would have been real bad
