The Sox next shelter rescue?

Recommended Posts

He looked like he was going to be a legit #3 in Milwaukee a few years ago and then...he wasn't. This is a dumpster dive that could conceivably work out. If his shoulder is healthy and the sinker is working he can get major league hitters out.

"JuST" 32 and averaged about 1.4 fWAR per season before collapsing last year.

A better Flexen?

McKendry Shuster Clevinger Dunn Nastrini Iriarte Wikelman O.White C.Rodriguez Schweitzer all somehow worse options...

Gilbert will be on the shelf for at least a month or two btw.  Martin Perez until at least July.

Adisyn Coffey or Dan Altavilla next men up in the bullpen merry-go-round.

I can’t believe that JR continues to allow Getz to spend money on mostly garbage, anyone have any idea how many guys have come and gone since Getz took over in late season 2023.

Even better question...how much money was spent on stiffs, has been's, injury prone guys, dead beats et al.

JR (from what little we know) won't object to wasting millions on those type players even under Hahn but we sure as hell know what he thinks about paying premium money for premium talent.

I like how active this FO office when it comes to adding depth and mixing up the bottom of the roster. A rebuilding team should totally be doing this but I hope it continues when they’re competitive as well.

I have no problem with them taking a flyer on Houser. They need someone who can come in and eat innings to save the bullpen.

What, you think JR would let him spend money on good players?

A signing like this hitting the media twice as "close" is wild.  It's like his agent is begging someone else to make an offer.

Here’s your context: Houser’s wife was in labor on Saturday. I was told that he was starting tomorrow when I first heard about the signing on Saturday. He flew in last night.

Not bad at all for a journeyman/swing guy...not even a LHP.  The Vomitting Ace should fit in well with this team, lol.

I think this says more about Jerry, than Getz. Jerry is always looking to spend $0.50 in hopes of getting more than he paid for.

There are also a lot of fans hoping for a new GM .Is that any different ?  If you think Getz is the Adrian Houser of GMs and the solution is up to the same guy who hired Getz why keep hoping he's fired ?

When you put it that way that's a valid point.

Nothing really changes until ownership does, everything else is just cosmetic.
