I don't blame Venable for that I guess, since Rojas has had a f***-up at 3B almost every game he's played there and has looked horrible at the plate (Sosa's spot was due up in the 9th against a lefty closer). Managing a bad team is hard I guess.

Rojas could've been put in as a defensive replacement in the 9th especially if they think Rojas is the better 3rd baseman.

Sure but that was a very nice pick by Vargas. He actually made the right decision to go to first when he couldn't find the ears. If Sosa is in the right spot the inning goes differently. This loss just isn't hitting me hard. I'm getting used to the 3 or 4 good games then 3 or 4 bad ones routine.

Taylor post-game seemed to confirm what I thought, that he believed the guy would just look once and pitch no matter what. His wording made it not clear to me whether the coaching staff told him to do it ("I had the green light"). He has no regrets but I do. I'll admit that it's a great play by the Rangers regardless, you just don't want to let them beat you like that

We paid today for not having a true 1st baseman, you can’t send both of your 1st basemen to the minors, Elko was playing well at first and should have never been sent back to Charlotte after only a 10 game and 31 AB period but we have to remember that Getz is still an idiot.

In yesterday's lineup, the 8 & 9 hitters were Sosa and Rojas. 

Today, they were Taylor and Capra. That's a huge difference in your last two batters in they lineup. I know Rojas is at .149, but that's a mile better than .073.

 I said it was bad but so was Venable not doing what most managers would've done.

Did Taylor really, literally say anything like "I have not regrets" about that play. Because if he did, I really have a problem with him and him remaining a member of the White Sox.

Just another game where a lack of fundamentals (fielding, base running) and a bad bullpen snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.  

6th time this year the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later and lost the game.

3th time this year the lead was lost in the 9th inning.

Leasure has personally been responsible for two of the six lost games and helped lose a third. I don't know if he has much of a future myself. 

Sosa already with nine errors this year which is heading into Tim Anderson territory over a full year.

I was wondering if some stat head was going to come up with something about Elko being the only Rookie in Sox history to hit 3 HRs in his 1st 30 AB to be sent down to the minors so fast  or something like that.

To be fair the Sox won the series and are mostly a young team, but these games need to be closed out for the sake of confidence and momentum.

I don't remember his remarks well enough to be sure he literally said "I have no regrets" but I'm confident that the substance of his post-game comments was effectively that he had no regrets. I'll mention that as I remember it, the tone and wording of the questions he got about the play arguably kind of led him in that direction. Vibe of some of the questions was sorta "what was your thought process on that totally not stupid play in which you showed your hustling mentality"

Sosa is a losing player.  No instincts or feel for the game and a really bad situational hitter.  They will be a better team when they finally move away from him.

I was at the game, the first for me in a long time. I actually had a good time. Attendance wasn't bad, and the fans were into the game. For the first eight innings, the Sox almost looked like a major league team. And i couldn't believe it, but Sox employees were helpful and courteous.

But then came the predictable ninth inning collapse. Goofy stuff all over the place, and again, the Sox were exposed for the bad team they are. But at least Jake Burger got a homer and a double. Oh, wait a minute, he doesn't play for the White Sox. And why wasn't the third base guarding the line in the ninth? And who is that third baseman?

Did you know that Miguel Vargas (6 home runs) was the "Home Run Champion" for the 2025 Chicago White Sox? The "RBI Champion" was Miguel Vargas (21 RBI), and the "Hit King" was Lenyn Sosa (41 hits).

I agree, he’s not a long term play but it’s better than throwing some 34 year old turd out there that’s going to hit .190 and offer nothing at all.

Jake Burger is an example of our team's crumminess. Likeable figure, a fan favorite with power. Ah get rid of him, that's the ticket.

Leasure’s got a good arm.  Still learning. Defense behind him was less than exemplary.  Probably shouldn’t be closer yet, but the best relievers are still in Birmingham.
