Literally the only connection the Sox have to "Nashville" is Jerry talking to MLB about them. Why did he do it? He did it as a favor to his bestie TLR in hoping to get his ownership consortium picked to run an Nashville expansion team. He has nothing to do with looking to move the Sox there. This is definitely why Ishbia has already dumped $125M into the project. To move to Nashville.

I think the Sox would move to Hammond or a plethora of Chicagoland sites, if the Bears don't go there, before Nashville.

Here's the Lou Canellis segment in question. I guess we can all read into his comment however we want. But, IMO he just threw in that Nashville mention at the very end based on rumors from a couple of years ago and was NOT claiming this was based on any inside info. BTW, Cannellis is very enthusiastic about this proposal and thinks it could be a gem of a ballpark and a great move for the franchise. But he also acknowledges the concerns of Bridgeport residents that should be addressed.

Yeah, this seems like his way of saying (to Bridgeporters specifically), “The White Sox may be leaving their neighborhood, but at least they’re not going far!” which is a relevant point to make considering the concurrent situation with the Bears.

I agree with the multiple users that have commented about Ishbia’s investments so far being a telltale sign that he’s committed to staying in Chicago. After all, he already told us so himself:

“I love Chicago,” he said. “Put it this way: If I wanted to have a team that was not in my hometown, I probably should have (bought) the Twins, right? If I wanted to commute, I could’ve just commuted to Minnesota.”

It is obvious from a cursory examination of the subject AI rendering, that it lacks detail, scale (understandable) or any effort to incorporate the historical details from the architect of Wrigley and Comiskey, or Daniel Burnham. So what are the dimensions of the stadium, the outfield dimension, the distance to streets, rr tracks, etc.? IMO this AI design looks like a rush job probably motivated by pending financial matters or deadlines (the lease expiring in 2029?) Unfortunately there was no thought given to distracting attention from this year's pennant run. But this is all about the Ishbias, not about anything or anyone else.

The excuses provided to residents by Ishbia's attorneys and surrogates cannot be taken seriously. Low noise levels? Uh, no. Anyone who lives or has lived near RR tracks (let alone a RR facility like the CN facility in Harvey) knows the sound steel wheels on RR tracks, RR brakes, and the vibration from moving RR cars that resonates for miles.

I am glad that opposition to this absurd, rushed plan appears to be growing and more people contacting their elected officials. As Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas said" “How would you like it if somebody went up to Winnetka or somebody went to Naples, Florida, and put a railroad right in front of your house?.” Mike Quigley said “Last week I met Amtrak and said you do need a new maintenance facility, but not here,”

I don't like Schriff and hope he is not back, but I will cop his line "South side Stand-up"....stand up to this foolish, rushed plan. It was promulgated for the benefit of one man, not RR interests but Ishbia's personal and business interests

Hopefully Ishbia ("Dr. Detroit") rethinks this extremely arrogant and foolish plan. A respite from this insane push might cause him to consider another site, perhaps somewhere near the shores of Lake Michigan where a similar swap with the Park District or private land owners could be done...like he did or tried to do in Winnetka. Stop forcing a rail road facility where it doesn't belong. Stop angering people and setting back years of progress in these South side neighborhoods.

Did you really expect them to have architectural drawings before they have even acquired the property in question? Before a single actual approval or plan for the site that needs to get done first has been done?

It's a concept plan. An idea. It tells you ideas of what they want, but the first phases need to be reasonable able to be achieved to see how much of what land, flyovers, and spaces they will actually be able to acquire before they actually can start real planning. If they ended up staying at 35th St forever, then maybe Ishbia would try to redevelop the parking lots around Rate Field as a stadium district. But, I have my doubts that enough people are going to go out of their way to 35th & Shields on the 260 days a year the Sox aren't playing at home to keep a Ballpark Village full of bars and restaurants economically viable there.
