well, the home means literally nothing and, while the market means slightly more, you know the Cubs play here right? And people prefer them generally? And there are a lot of cities, ie Nashville, where people watch sports on TV and look at advertisements and have available land for an arena.

Also the guy is just bad at sports management. He bought the Suns when they were a title contender and took them back into mediocrity. The grass is not always greener, it's one idiot or another, and this guy has a track record in sports.

Our grass is dead and on fire.

So why didn't the Sox move in the last 100 years? You aren't moving a team from Chicago to Nashville. It's just not happening. MLB wouldn't let it happen, either.

Jerry tried very hard

In regard to moving the team.  I am not certain folks realize how big Chicago is when encompassing the region as compared to areas like Cincinnati, Pittsburgh. MIlwaukee etc.

Yes the cubs dominate but there is still moe potential

I know this comes up often but it cannot be said enough

I'm not sure it's so amazing that Reinsdorf has the ability to hold on through 2034.  Yikes.

He wants to sell upon his death.  That's the reason for the broad language.

I was wondering if the Fire stadium news spurred this to move forward now.

Regarding 2029, are they timing it for when the current stadium lease is up?

It might have spurred the release, but that has been in progress behind the scenes for a long time.

Exactly. 1/3 of Chicago's market is bigger than Nashville. Make the effort to win back and create new Sox fans and you're far better off than waiting for locals to support a transplanted team.

I agree, we don’t know much about Ishbia but he has to be better than JR.

4 years is a while. 4 years ago, the Sox were pretty good.

I’d say that four years went by pretty damn quick. And 2027 or whatever is going to be a short season AT BEST anyway.
