eh slid short on a double play ball. i don't blame him.

It wasn’t just slid short, it was “eh I assume double play so I’ll just give up” and it cost an out. It’s lazy bullshit.

I think Schriffen is the cause of a lot of my disdain for the White Sox. Just listening to him describe this team like their in first place just annoys the s%*# out of me.

It would have been way more fun to be at that game than have to listen to Schriffen shovel s%*# at me the whole time lol

Contact with the ball.Infielders purposely used to sling the ball low to force runners to get down or get smashed the face on DP relays. Not sure how prevalent that still is but apparently it must be if Robert slid like that. However there's no rule that says you can't slide directly into the base and risk it. But I'm sure the Sox prefer he stays healthy and continues to swing the bat.

If the ball was hit to SS, sure, but this was a ball to 2B and the fielder was going the opposite direction. They won and it didn’t matter, but still would like to see a better effort than that.

But the fielder is still throwing it to 1st. It just depends where he catches the ball at and how quickly he thinks he has to get rid of it.

Runners also used to slide with their arms in front of their face . Of course baseball's a little more gentle than it used to be . Forcing runners to duck and cover on slides was usually because breaking up a DP by coming in high and hard or wide and hard at 2nd was allowed until they changed the rules an you got an auto DP if you try too hard to break up the DP. Better to just get down and stay out of the way now. Sox got fucked on a slide deemed too hard earlier in the year.
