The trading deadline is coming up so I thought it was time to post some rumors I'm hearing. The Mariners want Vargas and the Houston wants Benintendi.

The guy who wrote letters to JR to interview for Sox GM has sources?

If Houston actually wants Beni, I am sure he'll be an Astro in no time.

They’re better off trading for Tauchman. Sox would definitely have to eat cash in a Beni deal, especially since they’re being budget conscious.

If the Mariners want to overpay for Vargas let them. He's probably JAG. Decent starter, nothing more. I'm not convinced he can play a MLB 3B and that's a problem.

If someone wanted Beni, he would have already been gone.

Hope Houser keeps throwing well. I think it’s possible he can potentially get you a Top 200-250 guy if he stays on this heater. What a win for Getz that would be.

I hope in a few years we're no longer considering acquiring a C+ prospect for a one year FA signing a big win.

27-28 maybe we are singing a different tune. Guessing we are selling off vets this time next year for prospects as well. It’ll be nice when we can stop recycling the prospect convo though I agree.

How do you think he got Jerry’s mailing address?

JR use to respond to my letters until I wrote him asking to be interviewed for the GM job. After that he wouldn't respond to my other letters about other things. It was a shame because I thought i had some good ideas about improving the fan experience and other matters. I've been a season ticket holder  for 35 years. You would think he would have the decency to at least respond to me.

I mean, no one's untouchable. Sure if they want to give up a real hitter like Emerson, Montes, or Celesten... Sure I guess. Otherwise? Why are we churning through guys with 5 years of control? You start doing that this rebuild is going to get it's own 125 year patch.

I’m calling bullshit on this right now.

I would certainly entertain trading him for a quality OF prospect if the Mariners have one

The 27 season more than likely is going to be seriously impacted by a labor situation instituted by the owners. JR won't be doing anything.

There is no way the M’s are seriously interested in Vargas. He’s hardly better than Solano at 1B and sure as hell is worse than Williamson at 3B, rookie or not. It would be colossally stupid to trade a legit prospect for Vargas.

Montes is the best hitter close to being ready, and he likely ends up at DH long term.

You keep saying  there is going to be a  lockout/strike in 2027 I don't see it happening. It would be another PR disaster for the sport. I think the only thing that will change will be the deferred payments and I would think that should be worked out. I read where the Dodgers have over $1 billion dollars in deferred payments. Teams do this to avoid the luxury tax.

I feel that, other side of me however sees we need 30+ WAR to even start to think about a division title and if someone wants to give us 150 cents on the dollar for an average regular we should probably consider it.

I doubt the Mariners are that interested in Vargas but you could try for Farmelo.

What would you consider 1.50 on the dollar?  All prospects can fail, so wouldn't you have to get at least two viable guys? A bird in the hand and all that.
