No, not with the money remaining on his contract. I assume most people are just assuming the Sox would pick some/most of it up since they will be paying it anyways if he stays here. Meanwhile Sox got a 25 year old every day starter in Vargas and the two minor league infielders received by the Sox remain potential future contributors (far from certain, of course).
