I’m not saying how Stearns valued Robert was right or wrong, just that he clearly didn’t value him highly. If the best they were offering was something like Morabito, it’s easier to understand why Getz didn’t make a trade.

Why wouldnt he be ? That's the plan. The longer you keep him the more likely he wont ever get traded. 

Even finishing with a .725 OPS is an uphill battle. August and September he needs to stay almost  as good as he was in July .

When you realize the Sox are paying worthless Benintendi $31 million over two more years, 1/$22 million or 2/$40 million for Robert doesn’t seem so bad.  🤣

Just curious...who has missed more time since they have been together. Beni or Robert? That may also factor in their thinking.

I don't think Robert returning is assured although like I posted on deadline day, if they don't pick up his option how bad does that make Getz look? And how much of the decision was JR intruding yet again hanging Getz out to dry?

really? I thought it was kinda endearing. usually he's just moping. Lu just seems like a socially awkward dude but is getting in on the fun. at least that's how I'm reading into it. I hope he sticks around.

I've seen him talk and laugh with Vargas a good chunk this year, but if he's going along with Colson trying to create a handshake, I see this as a good sign.

Did anyone ever say that? All I remember Getz saying was "we anticipate having him here" which to me doesn't mean for sure anything 

I think they were saying they are planning on picking up his option, not that he was for sure going to be on the roster next April.
