The fight for .500

Thanks, I remembered the prediction thread and the vast majority (from what I recall) said they'd be better than last year.

A lot of things had to go right. If you would have said Teel, Quero, Montgomery and to an extent Meidroth would all get called up and be pretty good I wouldn’t have believed it. What we got from Houser and most of Smiths first half, wouldn’t have believed it either.

So I think I wouldn’t have changed what I thought, I just didn’t see how they would be better and it looks like the answer was a bunch of things I would have never believed possible anyways.

In the next week and a half, we have a 3 game series in Seattle (against a team that is only 5-5 in their last 10 games) and a 6 game homestand against Cleveland and Detroit.   If we can go 8-1 during this stretch, we'll be 50-71.   We'd only have to go 31-10 over the final month and a half to reach .500.

I said that, believing that at the deadline they really would get rid of players.

so, I won’t do that again.

Even if they had gotten rid of many more players at the deadline, they’d still finish better than last year’s team. It’s really hard to be that bad.

ONLY have to go 39-11. Dont think anyone's buying what you're selling but if you're on it it must be good stuff !

This thread could also be be called "The Fight for Southsider2k5 to become a billionaire".  Sure it is possible, but the odds are about as close to zero as you can get.

Just bet your life savings the Sox will finish .500, it won’t make you a billionaire but it should get you pretty close

Nice thread

This is like the third moronic thread this year started after the team played well for a stretch and the Sox almost immediately went into a tailspin after each one.

No, I think the whole thread's a troll. But yeah, moronic.

I’m shocked that people are actually monitoring the win/loss record for a rebuilding team, it’s irrelevant. The Sox winning their way out of the top 3 of the draft would be catastrophic.

Braves Athletics Baltimore and AZ could all be right back in the playoffs with the right Top 3-5 pick.

if they trade them. no one's making a pennant bid after getting a top draftpick in baseball what do you think this is a basketball board? even then they're being eased in since the wemby and luka prospects have dried up.

I was thinking that yesterday. Thought man they’ve been playing good lately, I better check the stats. Still second worst record.

Even if its a troll, it has jinxed the team pretty much every time one of these get posted.
