October 27, 2025Oct 27 DJ must think that White Sox ownership is not going to improve the team this off season.

Yeah, it’s pretty hopeless from a payroll perspective for a while. I just hope none of main guys goes backwards, although there is a decent chance a someone will.
October 27, 2025Oct 27 Oh good, I thought the headline was about DJ’s future role with the Sox, in that they wouldn’t be keeping him around. DJ is just about the last thing still around from when I was a younger fan. And it wouldn’t have surprised me for them to send him packing.

October 27, 2025Oct 27 As much as I like DJ it is impossible to expect honesty from a man in his position. He has been a broadcaster for the Sox for 17 years. He played for them. He travels with the team. His paychecks come from them. How could he possibly say any thing like " they suck and as long as management is who it is i don't see them ever getting very good". I expect him to be biased. He should be biased, but he can not speak truly honestly, he just can't. So take it for what it is. Another Sox fluff piece.

You don’t think saying that “they’re going to suck for 3 years” isn’t being honest?

My own thought is they'll win in the mid-to-upper 70s next season and competing for the division in 2027. They might be "really good" in 2028. He has them two whole years behind that.
October 28, 2025Oct 28 2025 was the first signs of hope. I am not expecting miracles but 10-15 more wins in 2026 would be realistic.

There's no injection of talent from the minors this year and Colson's might be one of the most unpredictable future trajectories that you can come up with.

They played .430 ball after the ASB. That rounds up to 70 wins over 162. Next season's rotation probably looks something like Shane Smith, Davis Martin, Gomez, Grant Taylor and a wily, cheap veteran. Burke probably competes for a spot, too. I contend that the same team develops further and adds 5+ wins to their 2nd half performance level. You seem to be implying that they won't be able to run a pitcher out there who can do better than Jon Cannon's -0.5 bWAR. That was a weird rule change where MLB stopped letting baseball teams add players in the off-season. Edited October 28, 2025Oct 28 by WestEddy

Relying on Gomez? I don’t see how that is even the rotation of a .500 team. Also, while some guys will continue to develop, other guys will no doubt experience a sophomore slump.
