See this is where you are mistaken.  You would NOT have autonomy to operate however you want.  We have complete evidence that Jerry interfere's with day to day operations with his teams.

Had a nice year last year. Sure why not?

Feel like if you’re going to add a regular every day 1B, you gotta deal an infielder since that’s a spot guys like Sosa and Vargas would get at bats.

Another ex-Royal. At least he was decent last year.

It’s so funny to me that he always adds “Wh” before Sox.  Just say Sox or WSox lol.  Nobody thinks you are talking about Boston

Who cares? This would be more about his time with Fuller in Baltimore.

Old man with dementia and Twitter is a dangerous combination.  Bruce LeVineLine’s tweets have long been filled with funny misspellings and other utter hilarity.

Josh Naylor would be a much better signing.

And a lot more money that Getz isn’t allowed to spend, which is the key.

Sox can’t afford that clubhouse buffet cost.

Not at all excited about this.   They can do much better!!

Wouldn't shock me with the Fuller connection. They need a 1B.

You have to spend money to make money. If JR had giving me the GM job interview  and had the good sense to hire me as the new GM, I would try to sign Naylor. If JR didn't approve of the signing I would resign the GM job. Signing Naylor would solve some of the problems the team has. Naylor is young and a good left  handed hitter.

Shane Smith and Ryan O'Hearn, your returning White Sox All Stars.

He will fit a contending team much better as a strong side DH, but isn't an everyday hitter, not even for the rebuilding Sox.

And that's probably his last peak year.

Fwiw, Ramon Laureano at the much lower price was far better and more useful in the OF as well.  Affordable team option on his deal based on 2025 breakout, however.

What if he did, but Naylor's agent told you to sod off, and don't call again until you have a winning team, because Naylor wants to be in the playoffs, and Seattle's going to top your offer anyway? And then, when you checked in on Pete Alonzo, his agent said the same thing? Then Framber's people, Kyle Schwarber's people and Murakami's people all told you roughly the same thing?

Would you then have a Plan B beyond "Spend as much money as it takes to sign all the best players"? Because that's literally the first thought every single person has when thinking about putting together a winning team.

Apparently you would only last as Sox GM for a day then.  Remember how Hahn held a press conference when he described looking to hire a manager that sounded exactly like AJ Hinch?  And then Jerry said hold my beer and cigar, Rick.  I’m hiring my old buddy TLR?  Yeah…

Why are we even talking about these other hypotheticals when we already know Jerry wouldn’t approve spending the money that Naylor, or any of the other players you mentioned, will cost?

Lol so you’re going to be the GM that JR finally lets spend some money again?

I would have a plan to go back to Murakami's agent and argue he could be the singular star in Michael Jordan's city...just like they half-heartedly attempted to do with Bryce Harper.

To build the team around him...rather than him being a complementary piece for other contenders.  He'd also be the immediate starter at any of three positions.

It would have to be more about marketing and the future...and having less initial pressure on his defense as well as swing and miss issues on a team that's far out of the limelight.

Just depends on his personality and how much he enjoys challenges ... versus joining a sure thing.

With Muncy resigned, his position on LA is blocked by both Freeman and Ohtani, so he goes to the Mariners if they can't keep Naylor in town.

You would have to overpay to get Naylor here. I would do that. And after I did that I'm sure JR would fire me.

Yeah, we need to first get past the idea that the Sox would be the leading offer to any of these guys, then we could talk about their chances vs other teams in that scenario.  When you suck AND you won't spend?  Well that is how you end up with a free agent list that looks like an old folks home for utility players.
