Most of the time he's injured which negates that point.

if they paid him the same amount they paid Rojas, I think it's a good deal for what is basically a backup. I bet he could start somewhere though.

I liked Moncada despite never living up to the hype. He's a nice guy, he'd always stick around longer than other Sox players to sign autographs for kids at spring training.

There's some value in that to be sure but not as much as what he was being paid millions of dollars to do.

For what this is worth I saw this posted at the Southside Sox web site regarding the Moncada talk.

"That person is a reliable source of information. He’s a BBWAA sports writer and reporter. It’s worthy news.

Fans were asking why that web site even did a story on this and (like myself) commented on the source being unknown.

Still can't under any circumstances see a reunion happening. Not with his baggage and the way he was benched the final days/weeks when he was in uniform.

Unless they are crazy enough to let him try out the OF? I thought I remember reading Moncada told teams he was willing to play the OF. Still seems crazy to me, because they very clearly cut ties with him at the end of 2024.

If Moncada could play the OF, he could be a decent utility guy assuming he comes dirt cheap.  That being said, I doubt the Sox have real interest in him.

I doubt him running around the OF would be good for all of the pulls he seems to get.

But why?  If all goes well, we’re drafting Roch at the 1.01 next year and that will push Colson to 3B.  Okamoto is a luxury we don’t need at the moment.

You can never have enough DH/1B types. As a Sox fan, I expect you to know these things.
