I don’t know enough about Sandlin to have strong feelings here, but adding two more guys who require 40 man spots (including one who has to be on the 26 man roster) seems kind of crazy to me.  This trade screams Bannister and I wish I had more confidence in him when it comes to trades like this right now.

Iriarte and Romo. Not who I would have picked.

If Hicks is going to be in. the pen then Sox pitching coaches have to get him throwing strikes at mimimum.

What am I missing here, Hicks is 17-35 lifetime with a 4.41 ERA. Never had a season with a winning, we did the Carmines a big favor.

Sox got a good pitching prospect back that will probably be in the rotation this year and are putting Hicks back in the bullpen where he can try and be a little more electric.

They also gave up a guy named Gage, so it's a win no matter what.

Hicks was a consistent triple digits guy, right?

Yes, at least out of the bullpen. I really like getting Hicks IF we move him to the bullpen. Maybe he can regain some of his old luster prior to the trade deadline and we can trade his contract and pickup a mid-level prospect.

Got good stuff . BP type arm .Needs to throw more strikes. Someone who could be coached up .  Sandlin starting pitching candidate, also good stuff. Likely will get coached up at AAA to start the season.

Bob said he was going to the bullpen and he is usually on White Sox stuff correctly.

FWIW, Hicks had a 4.35 FIP and 4.61 xERA last year, so the back of the baseball card might be a touch misleading on just how bad of a year it was. I think his basic issues are straightforward: can't get swings and misses on his heater because it's a sinker, doesn't have a pitch to get lefties out, and he walks too many guys. I suspect the walks would get better if he had a more reliable whiff pitch, especially against lefties.

Not as sure about Sandlin, seems like he showed some signs of being a useful player in AA last year before they started pitching him out of the pen in AAA where he got beat up badly. Not sure if that was a load management thing or what. Boston decided to protect him from Rule 5 for whatever reason, so that tells you something.

Or didnt differentiate between the color Sox that saved the $16M which was the Red Sox.

I thought he was saying that the Red Sox save $16 million by moving Hicks, even after sending $8 million to the White Sox.  Hicks was owed $24 million over the next two years.

Yeah but a poster was confused and thought we saved money based on that tweet.
