I know it’s been brought up before…but is there seriously no way Sosa can play OF? Just seems crazy that this franchise isn’t going to attempt to get his bat in the lineup.

I don’t have any delusions of Sosa being a make or break guy in this rebuild, but a 26 year old that is easily one of the top 9 bats we currently have to offer shouldn’t be on the bench of a team with no hope of actually competing

What is his trade value around the league though?

Similar to let's say Miguel Andujar?

  • If it were me, I’d walk down to Acuna and demand he bat switch hitter all season.

Nope, kid is fucking cooked.  If you ain’t fixed before your first full minor league season as a prep pick then it’s officially game over man.

Then, just play Sosa at second full time. Meidroth will get opportunities, especially if Colson keeps striking out so much.

They'll figure it out. Anyone that can hit major league pitching, and for power at that, has value especially in today's game. Someone is always injured, so one way or another he'll play in place of them. Ideally, he should DH with his defensive limitations, which now that Teel will be out for at least the month of April and Quero being the main catcher with Korey Lee backing him up, I'm sure they would prefer Sosa's bat in there at DH vs Lee, whereas with Teel healthy I'm guessing you probably would see more Teel/Quero DH'ing on their off-catching days.

I have been pitching trying Sosa in LF for a while now, and ST is the perfect time to try.

I’m surprised they haven’t tried Sosa in LF yet, which makes me think they have no plans to dump Benintendi any time soon. Even if you don’t think Meidroth is the long-term solution at 2B and want Sosa available to play there, the Sox already have better options in the pipeline to play 2B than Sosa.

Antonacci in LF. Interesting.

They seem convinced that if they just hold on a liiiittttttlllee bit longer, they can squeeze some money out of him. Just dump him. He's a sunk cost. Yeet him, as the kids say.

What the hell is going on with Brooks Baldwin?

Borucki and Wade both seemed viable. Must be a deadline.

Yep, and they want to help Wade get another gig somewhere after his big day.

Wade > Bene

Well Shane Smith's last two outings have each been an unmitigated disaster

Yeah. I am not worried exactly, but it is concerning. Especially the control part. Hopefully it is just a blip.

Saw a blurb in the Sun-Times that said he is probably going to start the season on the IL.

Can't throw with that elbow.

Tell Jerry to eat Benintendi’s salary then. Good luck.

Surprised about Kelenic with Baldwin still hurt. Does this mean Hill is making the roster? Yuck.

Kelenic was certainly given the opportunity.

And he still has the opportunity. Guys get injured, slump, or whatnot. He's at AAA with an organization who seems committed to investing in his former prospect.
