"I'm not paying for this!  You said you were going to fix my car!  All you did was make it work like it did previously!"

  • If it were me, I’d walk down to Acuna and demand he bat switch hitter all season.

Nope, kid is fucking cooked.  If you ain’t fixed before your first full minor league season as a prep pick then it’s officially game over man.

To be fair, low fastball velo has always been part of the scouting report for Thorpe even though some had wondered if he had more in the tank. I don't know how far off his norms he was in terms of velocity. I do think it's reasonable to think that his poor command in MLB might have had to do with his elbow. Of course we'll get to find out more about what he can do before too long.

His velocity was apparently down a couple ticks with us in the minors vs. what it was in his final season with the Yankees when he was Minor League pitcher of the year.

I created a WBC catch-all to use as game threads and related.

I guess if a player's going to get PAs in a "major league" game, he has to be assigned to major league camp. And then when he's done, they reassign him to minor league camp.

Wolkow had a single in the game today, over 120 mph off the bat. Guy has juice.

You don't put high schoolers in High A ball.

At least not to start the season.

I think he meant will get assigned to full season ball at all not High A vs. Low A

He'd be about 5 months younger than Colson was for his Kanny debut, but Colson got to play in rookie ball after the draft.

Sucks that draft year rookie ball reps just isn't an option anymore.

It's a good thing he graduated, then.

Name the last White Sox position player drafted from high school who debuted the next season in High A????

I dare you.

Especially ones with questions about eventual big league hitting ability.

Kannapolis is low A, not high.

You do understand that Kannapolis isn't high-A, don't you?

I dare you to not make things up.

Yeah cute how he's not currently in high school.

Fine I misread that someone wanted him in Winston Salem because a number of posters wanted Braden Anderson moved up all the way to Chicago last year.

First round draft picks from high school level 90-95% of time are in low A the following year.

Getz does actually realize Acuna's a switch hitter now?

Am I paid $750k like he is?

Maybe he's just so excited about Kannapolis he got mixed up, but either way it's not a big deal because it is so great!

Certainly a ”hot takel" around here is that a #10 drafted high schooler is on his way to Low A ball...and not AZ Complex ball.

You'd be hard pressed to find many that weren't so similarly advanced, except players who were hurt their draft year or signed really really late.

If it was such a pressing issue to big league teams, they wouldn't have dumped so many rookie league and A level minor league  teams, me thinks.

Who said he was “lost” after watching him like 2 games? Not saying he’s found eithet. But give the kid a chance

This swing would certainly play if he can harness it consistently:

I wouldn’t waste much time assessing what this guy says.  He also said this…
