There seems to be a common theme that it's the guys who are developed in other organizations have the most success here.

or players started here get better when they leave

I obviously don't think one game matters, and I have them around 67 wins for the season, but their bottom 30% pitching outcome is historically bad... and the bottom 30% isn't exactly all that unlikely

To be fair, the Royals had a pretty decent run from 2014-2016.

Two WS appearances, would have been two titles if not for Madison Bumgarner.

LOL. wasn't 2017 a 100 loss season for them? Fair is not the word but short term success. It's like the center of an EREO with a turd crust. The local media even tried to boost the Grifol hire. Losing is a habit.

Gotta be pretty embarrassing to give up the most runs in all of baseball as a team when you’ve only played one game and other teams have played two. 😆

Strange that this ended up being my 20,000th post. How the f*** is it even possible that I’ve posted that much.

Lots of poop.

I wanted to go 83-86, but 81 is my target win total.

Don’t worry, the Sox won’t give up 14 runs every game. More like half that.

Imagine a world where the Sox would generally hover over their win totals of recent vintage, and the pitching staff is what it is. And guys like Roch and Lebron are you know, good, but not separating much from the best pitcher on the board draft day. COULD the Sox actually contemplate the pitcher?

They will go 71-91.

Let's hope not.

Pitchers have zero chances to be extended...although that could change under Ishbia.

We still don't know what they have in Colson and Braden.

Two year wait on Bonemer...mid season 2027 at the earliest.

And man, at least Hahn took swings on both hitters and pitchers.

In the big 3 deals he got Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, Dunning and Cease. Also Ian Clarkin but dude was obviously a step down.

Getz pushed his biggest chip in for Thorpe and Iriarte.

But coming off a down season with limited control.

Weren't going to get Merrill or de Vries or even Salas at that point.

Trade Quero or somebody for a starting pitcher.

Bullpen has to be better right? My guess is around 70 wins.

I may have been wrong.

Exactly

Hard to imagine this not being the worst team yet unless minor league arms come up and rescue the pitching staff. No way Sox get 60 wins. No freaking way.

I am as unhappy with this start as anyone, but we should be 1-2 after starting on the road against a good team. We need to take a step back from the edge and take a fresh look after 20 games or so. The first two games didn't bother me, but this one did hurt.

Didn't someone last year make a thread with 16 game samples of the season? Whoever that was I liked that and hope they do it again

Hopefully Ishbia is surrounding himself with highly intelligent baseball people. It could be so bad that it needed totally gutted out that competitive may be 10 years from now.
