The streak has been broken!! My son and I had a blast. Great game for my son to see with Murakami and Colson both going deep. And he got a ball. Glad I pulled the trigger last minute.

Anyone notice that certain people only come to game threads the Sox are losing to rub salt in the wounds and tell us how everyone sucks ?

It does make some sense if for the simple fact that you guarantee your best pitcher faces the top of the order. Granted, I don't like openers lol

I think I might take my son to the game. Last minute thing. What’s my best bet for tickets? Can you buy any ticket and then move to better sections?

Responding to my own post here, but it looks like I can get pretty good seats down the third base line for around $50 each. Upper deck is around $20 each. Not that big of a difference. Might just pull the trigger on the better seats to avoid the hassle of sneaking into other sections.

But if anyone has any idea advice from experience, let me know.

If you want to move around the 100 level make sure you have 100 level tickets. A lot of times (especially when it’s busy) they check and don’t let you down there with 500 level tickets.

Appreciate the advice. I just bought a couple tickets in section 147. I apologize to everyone for the loss today. Haven’t witnessed a Sox win in person since before Covid.

Like this lineup. Except peters should be in center and Pereira in Right. I know Pereira probably still hurt. I'm ok if he gets some run. They might have something there. At least a place keeper until something better comes around. I feel eventually Benny should be the man out if Braden is to arrive this year

Who's pitcher #2 today?

Kay

How is the weather and the rain up there? Are we going to be able to get this one in? It's 11:25 (your time) down here in Lafayette, Indiana and absolutely pouring with no sign of a let up.

I checked the radar up there where you guys are, and it looks like the rain clouds and moved past your guys. Is is clear and relatively sunny up there? Can they play? Does the field drain well enough?

Is he their best reliever? That is certainly up for debate.

What are you basing that opinion on?

The point of your best reliever is to use them in the highest leverage scenarios. That is rarely ever going to be the first inning.

A couple things: One, I think Acuna should be the centerfielder, all the time, every time he plays. It would be easier for him to learn the position and give him a feeling of confidence knowing he's there everyday. Establish him as the centerfielder and don't mess with him in the infield. The Sox have a TON of infielders; they can't even find a way to get Sosa's bat in the lineup, let alone the fact that Antonacci needs to come up soon. To have Acuna continue to practice and work at an infield position when the Sox are overloaded there seems silly.

Also, I am generally not as anti-sacrifice bunting as some posters are on here and think it does have its time and place; but I do not think Acuna sac bunting is not a good idea. Let him swing the bat and see what he can do. I have to believe he is tough to get a double play on with his speed to first.

Okay, sometimes Venable makes me shake my head at what he's doing, but today, he has me stumped completely. Last year Quero batted .357 right-handed and .234 left-handed, and 4 of his 5 home runs were right-handed last year. Every time he bats, he batting lefty, and I say to myself, "When does Teel get back? I'm so sick of watching Quero bat left-handed." So today, Toronto is starting a left-handed pitcher, and Quero can finally bat right-handed. So what does Venable do? He sits Quero down so he can start McGuire, a left-handed bat?? What are we doing here? This seems so stupid, especially for a manager who seems overly obsessed with the pitching matchups to the point we keep seeing Benitendi's bat over Sosa's because of the lefty/ rightly matchup. I just don't get it.

And also by that logic, shouldn't Pereira (if he's healthy) be in right field over Peters? I don't get Venable at all sometimes.

I am not sure Acuna’s upside is high enough to give him a lot of run if he sucks on both sides of the ball. I always felt he was overrated as a prospect just because he was consistently young for the level. I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think he has the impact to warrant unlimited run.

True but the odds we take a close game into the last few innings is low. At least he is getting some work. Let him go two if he has another quick first.

I went to the final game of 2024. They sold me upper deck tickets to the closed upper deck at the window and told me to sit wherever I wanted. Attendance for that game was around 15.6k, you might get 20k today, yet.

McGuire is starting to catch Kay, who he has history with (in Toronto, ironically). His last win in the bigs was caught by McGuire.

Also, Fluharty isn't a starter, he's just an opener for an expected BP day. He might not even get to Quero's expected spot in the order. The bulk guy is a righty.

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you.

Pereira and Quero are probably achy, is all. While I think Acuña should get run out in CF every day until Baldwin comes back, I've heard it said that he's probably the best SS on the team.

Did Schriffy get benched or does he have another engagement?

Agreed but at least today there’s a platoon advantage. I mean somewhat, the only lefties in their lineup are Varsho and Gimenez.
