Makes no sense to me

Makes plenty of sense to me. He's been terrible. Let him work on getting his confidence and stuff back in AAA. If it works, and he remains a useful starter, you just bought a year of control. If it doesn't work, it certainly wasn't going to work against big league hitters.

Sox absolutely have to work on the fringes with player control, until they don't. And that isn't happening until JR is out of the way.

SOMETHING isn't right. His control is GONE. I know they have mentioned this change from last year, maybe that's it. Well hopefully anyway, because in theory they can work back to what he was doing before.

After the way the Sox stint went, I am going to guess Gio would rather retire than come crawling back to Jerry.

White Sox option Shane Smith to make room for Tyler Schwe...

The White Sox roster will be in a healthier place when they can make it through an entire 162-game schedule without optioning their Opening Day starter. For the second straight season, the top of the

I truly wonder what is going on with him. This can't just be him holding out for what he thinks he's worth right?

As a union guy, it MIGHT be. Especially with the lock out about to happen. He's already got the screw job over $50k from Jerry in his history.

I mean it is probably health related, but I wouldn't rule out the other.

gio would need at least a month to build up his arm

I know it won't happen with Lucas but in general, wouldn't a veteran pitcher keep himself in shape so that he would be able to step in quicker if a team wanted and needed him? Otherwise many teams who were desperate for pitching would be less likely to sign if they need a month to get ready.

Are we sure he isnt just being sent down for a few days to get an extra arm in the pen? And then he is brought back up when it's his next turn in the rotation?

You can't do that without an injury to someone else. Being sent down means you are out for 10 days until there is an IL stint for someone new.

Talk about a crash and burn in only a year for Getz’s two great Rule 5 picks from last year.

It is almost a guarantee someone will get hurt in the next 4 days lol

Fair.

Is "inflammation of the ERA" a valid IL stint?

Not sure you're getting more then 3IP out of Schweitzer his first time out so if the goal was to save the bullpen in the next few starts pretty sure you just did the opposite.

I'm hoping the MLB pitching staff is like a revolving door with Charlotte. Keep shuffling everyone with options until they make an undisputable case for a MLB job.

Fedde should be cut within a month and if Kay isn't giving you quality innings then it's time to try him out of the pen.

I'm guessing they're bringing up Schweitzer up to spell the bullpen, then sending him down for Cannon or Davitt when Smith's spot comes around, again.

Oops, already said. Jinx!

Just awful. Don't even really feel like making a my wheel on bus post here. Shane Smith turning back into JAG AAAA type is horrible news for the org and it's another setback. Between this and the baldwin news I'm already pretty over this season and it just started.

Not to mention Teel and Vasil out and Murakami at .200.

Colson...there was always a concern about repeatability and Quero simply looks awful.

Vargas and Davis Martin the bright spots.

  1. White Sox -27

  1. Blue Jays -23

  1. SFG -21

And the "fun" is just beginning! 😠

The loss of command this year is pretty alarming, and coupled with his loss in velocity in the last start, it makes sense to send him to Charlotte. I hope it isn’t a shoulder issue, that’s what I always worry about when the command leaves but the velo is still mostly normal

The good news is he struck out a ton last game. But I'm with you, a loss of command that bad often means surgery is around the corner or the yips.

I guess he's holding out for a major league contract instead of him signing a minor league deal.

When the season starts, players holding out haven't faired the best.

I guess we turn our eyes on the farm system.

Giolito's going to get a surprisingly decent contract when all is said and done.
