Alarm reactivated: Tanner McDougal left today’s game with right forearm tightness

Featured Replies

Could be nothing, guess we'll find out soon enough

Just watched the replay. Looks like he may have landed on his right foot funny and grabs his right thigh.

Dizzy Dean just turned over in his urn.

Seems to have been a misstep on the mound and he is fine.

Seems fine. I like that he wasn’t happy to leave.

was hamstring from what I heard

False alarm, he's good.

  • DoUEvenShift changed the title to Tanner McDougal possibly hurt? False alarm, just precautionary.

It's the White Sox way.

If you went to the Sox with a sore back they would tell you to get a chiropractor to adjust it. Their second diagnosis would be a fractured spine.

This is all the Sun-Times had to say about it in the postgame:

"Separately, and perhaps more ominously, right-handed pitching prospect Tanner McDougal exited his start for the Knights with right forearm tightness on Wednesday. Further tests were underway for the 6-5 hurler, who has fanned 27 across six starts with a 3.00 ERA, and figured to be part of the parade of rookies making their debuts with the Sox this season."

In a bizarre sort of way though if the worst case scenario takes place he may not miss much time given the labor unrest next season potentially wiping out some (all?) of the season.

High/max effort velocity like that typically equals 1 1/2 year recovery….unless tjs revision or internal brace.

2028 off-season, ST.

this is why you can’t ever take a pitcher 1-1

Especially small and mid market teams

have to draft a ton of these guys in later rounds like the Guardians typically do

How is a pitcher with an arm injury a uniquely White Sox thing?

he had TJS 3 years ago, that would be crazy if he already blew it up

Didn’t Drew Thorpe start out only needing a bone spur to be shaved down and then ended up needing TJ surgery? Seems like this happens with the Sox quite a bit.

It happens to every team quite a bit. The Sox have actually had some pretty good luck, so far, this year.

Eh I just think there’s a nearly endless list of valid things to criticize the Sox for and this isn’t one of them.

It's the gloomers taking a victory lap over an injury.

29% of TJS in MLB in 2025 were the Sox and we already know this.
