White Sox calling up Jarred Kelenic

Now what did I do with my shocked face.

He was absolutely horrid to start the year, but has been hitting well recently. Somewhere Harold is smiling.

Hopefully he can ACTUALLY translate to the real club, instead of it being a AAAA bender.

Pereira also had a label of always being hurt as a Yankees' prospect.

Here we are again.

Who could have possibly known?

Our savior!

I'd rather watch Kelenic than Hill.

May as well ride the hot hand. He's been scorching hot after a brutal first 2 weeks.

That’s why he signed here imo. The fix was always in. He could have been better down there, but he’s enough of a veteran to get a shot regardless. Failed veteran nonetheless. Especially with guys like Acuna “blocking”

I would too, but Kelenic is always pretty awkward to watch. See him stealing bases last week? Lol barrel rolling over second bas bag

I would prefer Hill and Tristan Peters any day to Kelenic. Maybe he proves me wrong, but I doubt it.

I would prefer Kelenic starts over Hill or Peters. It would be ...a choice... to start Hays, Peters and Hill, and to bench Kelenic. If old Jarred can really hit, again, they need his bat in the lineup.

Agreed. Worth a try. If he performs, he plays. If he sucks, he gets DFA’ed when Pereira is healthy.

If he showed even a flicker of life, he wouldn't have been sent down in the first place. I know we want to dream back to his prospect hype days, but he couldn't even win a roster spot with the White Sox until there were multiple injuries in the OF. The Sox even called up a guy too hurt to play the OF before Kelenic.

Any evidence of attendance spikes from Wisconsin?

Kelenic is “Can’t Get Right”

Yeah, plus the guy has only had 408 career games and roughly 1500 PA's... How can you judge someone after such little time?!?!? Let's make sure he gets another 1500 AB's before truly deciding his quality!

We will remember this day forever.

If the alternative is playing Derek Hill more, I don’t see the problem. I’m sure Peters will still get playing time.

Peters has posted subpar exit velocities but shown solid strike zone awareness while making a decent amount of contact. He’s capable of playing anywhere in the outfield and has a couple minor league options remaining. The Sox can keep him in Triple-A without exposing him to waivers so long as they continue carrying him on the 40-man roster.

Barring a surprise trade of either player, the White Sox will open 2026 with Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr. as their respective left and center fielder. The out-of-options Everson Pereira, himself an offseason trade pickup from Tampa Bay, probably enters Spring Training as the favorite in right field. Chicago has journeyman speedster Derek Hill penciled in for a bench role, while utilityman Brooks Baldwin could factor into either corner spot. It’s one of the weakest outfield groups in MLB and would be especially barren if the Sox finally line up a Robert trade by next summer’s deadline.
