  • Sandlin's statcast metrics and repertoire look meaningfully different this season compared to last. Against righties, he's throwing about 40% 4-seam, 31% sweepers, 20% sinkers, and a curveball or cutt

  • Love the roster churn when some things aren't working. As a starter or out of the bullpen this is a boost

Hell yea, all hands on deck. Might as well try and be decent.

Fedde's been getting slapped around over his last 4-5 starts. I wonder if he gets a phantom injury, becomes the mop up dude, or DFA.

gotta mean Fedde getting the axe

Fedde or Leasure

He's not stretched out enough to replace a starter yet in my opinion.

My guess is Richards, and he piggybacks with Burke tomorrow

Wouldn't they wait until his turn if he was replacing Fedde? Of course maybe that is the plan as the FS sources have been getting these call-ups early.

I don't think they would call Leasure up, and after his first outing of giving up runs they just DFA him

I could be wrong, my bet is still fedde. also they need to get Ben People's up here

It's crazy how Leasure can't figure something out. Just gives up too many homers. Is Winkleman still hurt?

If I had to guess, he pitches in some capacity tomorrow, as it’s his turn in the Charlotte rotation, and then takes Fedde’s spot with an opener of his own the first time through.

He got up near 70 pitches his last start, so he’s almost stretched out, but not quite all the way.

If Sandlin proves to be a capable starting pitcher I will bow down and kiss Getz’s feet and never say another bad word about Hicks.

The not stretched out part is why I suggested Shane Muphy as a sysrting pitcher because his last start he threw 5 shut out innings. But Ill admit I never checked how he was pitching before that.

What you say makes sense although a 1 or 2 inning role is also possible because every time they try to plug a hole it hasnt been working out.

But that might not be ideal in order to keep him prepared for spot starts or piggybacking for longer stints .

Tall order .Dude has barely got his feet wet after being injured but pitched incredibly well. Schultz was also pitching very well for a longer period and he has struggled.

See no issue here. Even if he settles as a 2-3 inning guy, the team could use that right now

I hope to God they plan on starting Sandlin. He is the only guy left standing from their starter depth in AAA. He threw 71 pitches his last time out. I could see him throwing 85 to 90 his next time out. That may be 5 innings. That’s better than a lot of their starters lately. Fun fact: He works out in the offseason in the same place as Davis Martin and Gabe Davis, which is owned by former Sox reliever Lane Ramsey. As far as who’s going down? I dunno.

Gabe Davis the TE?

I’d put my money on Trevor Richards. My guess is they keep Fedde around a bit longer as a swingman until injured depth guys are back in action.

Maybe they’re riding the hot hand, think he’s been ready for the next step, and the only thing holding him back was the injury. If that’s the case, might not be as tall an order as some think and is just about building his strength back up while breaking him in.

Just let me pine for us finding our version of Merkowsky or whatever that dudes name is. 😆

Oh he's definitely the pitcher that a lot of people were mentioning who had a good shot at coming up. Getz hyped him up pretty good after the trade and expected him to be a contributing piece to this years team but thats mostly just GM talk , but he was the centerpiece of that trade and the money to pay for Hcks and acquire Sandlin came from the Luis Robert trade as did the money to pay Hays and Dominguez. Unfortunate that a measly $20M from the Robert trade was the only way to get all those players but it just goes to show the restrictions he's been working under. Had to get creative.

Gabe Davis, last year’s 5th round pitcher from OK St. who is off to a promising start while facing — say it with me — limited pitch counts.

Limited pitch counts.

There… ya feel better?

I was hoping he could have been serviceable, maybe some rest or a move him to the pen can right the ship.

We still don’t know who the “Player to be Name Later” guys are from that deal, right? We get one and we lose one.
