Shane Smith returning to his 2025 form at some point would really change the complexion of the rotation.

And that kids is why Roch Cholowsky was the first pick of the draft

He's throwing a bullpen tomorrow and expects to be back in game action in a couple weeks.

5 scoreless for Mason Adams in his second AAA start.

3 H, 1 BB, 6 K on 71 pitches

Definitely looking like someone who can contribute this summer

There’s been a sizable amount of good Sox news in the past 24 hours… this may be the best of it all!

God please show out Adams as a right handed Mark Buehrle.

I just want one of Adams/Thorpe to be that guy. Then one of Schultz/Hagen to succeed. Martin and Burke can stay. And you sign or trade for a solid SP. That’s how I view the 2027 rotation (not in this order, necessarily):

  1. Acquisition

  2. Martin

  3. Schultz

  4. Burke

  5. Adams

Then you have Thorpe, Hagen, Shane, and McDougal as possible depth. If you want to sign/trade for one more guy even for more stability, then you have an extra depth piece.

I could vision 2027 rotation

1. Taylor

2. Burke

3. Martin

4. Schultz

5. Kay/ S. Smith / H. Smith / free agent signing

Yeah, I actually forgot about Kay as I was typing that up. He can be that extra veteran.

100% agree. Sox will need to sign a legit TOR starter this offseason and have zero excuse given our financial flexibility (assuming there will be some in free agency). Martin, Burke, & Schultz should all stick if healthy. Plenty of options for the #5 spot between McDougal, Hagen, Shane, Thorpe, & Adams. Kay is either a swingman or traded for whatever. There is roadmap to quality rotation for next year…this year has just been plagued by injury and in the case of Schultz (so far) some development woes.

Looks like 4 to 6 weeks recovery for athletes who've had an uncomplicated appendectomy. This was reported around May 25th. So worst case, hopefully mid July for Thorpe to hopefully be back to throwing in some form

I wonder what kind of innings limit Taylor will have this year. he's already at his exact 2025 (MLB) IP total (36.2)

in the minors, 2024 he had 19.1, and in 2025 he had 26.2. so his total 2025 innings was 63.1

will they let him go past 100-120 this year?

Good question, they have a potential lethal Ace in the makings.

5 scoreless is pretty amazing so soon.

In ST they said they were targeting around 100

Schultz starting Sunday, 50-60 pitches (3-4 innings). One more at AAA after that, then they'll decide next steps.

Mune has graduated from the tee to the cages but not hitting Trajekt/high velo yet

Any word on Thorpe?

Teel now 5-6 tonight, And they aren't even in Charlotte!

Haven't seen much other than he's healed up from the appendectomy and back throwing in some capacity. No timeline/benchmark details I'm aware of.

Seems like he should be back for the homestand provided he responds well after these two games.

Good timing with CLE on deck

• Catcher Kyle Teel (hamstring, knee) had four hits in five at-bats with two runs and two RBI in his rehab outing Friday at Triple-A Charlotte. He’s scheduled to play another nine innings Saturday, then be evaluated for a potential return.
