I think the 22nd is a bit early as the ramp up now will require probably 4-5 AAA games. I'd imagine he starts a rehab assignment Monday with Charlotte and plays his first game with them Tuesday, get in 4-5, and joins the club in Chicago on the 24th.

Perhaps. Primarily posted it because Steve has had sources in the past, so he might have some insight into the plan with him.

Schultz is throwing bullpens and should be close to a minimum IL stint. Shane Smith is throwing again too.

Would love for it to be Acuna but think it will be Gonzalez optioned.

In a perfect world it would be Beni, but that really doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen.

I just have a hard time seeing Sam A, Peters, Montgomery, Pereira, Beni, and Grichuk all on the roster. Seems like overkill and doesn’t give much roster flexibility. I think Gonzalez is a more useful piece that can DH and backup all of the IF spots.

C- Teel

1B- Mune

2B- Meidroth

SS- Montgomery

3B- Vargas

LF- Sam A

CF- Peters

RF- Montgomery

DH- Gonzalez/Grichuk (L/R platoon)

Bench- Romo, Pereira, Acuna

Maybe they can eat some Beni salary and get him shipped out as part of a bigger trade. He's clearly the odd man out given he can't play a position. He has a 101 wRC against RHP. Not exactly mashing in that role as a lefty DH.

I don't disagree. I'm just saying what I think is most likely to happen. Beni has been good lately and overpaid so they won't cut him if he's producing.

Well if you think Mune takes the full 6 weeks he's back July 10th. Sox already absorbed 1/3 of it.

They would need to eat that entire salary.

I don't know why they wouldn't at this point because having a better team on the field will result and more revenue and Beni is a sunk cost. They should have just put in a better buyout, what a stupid ass contract by Hahn. Even if in theory you could see the upside the downside was never protected against. Next year should have just been a team option with a 3 million buyout or something.

The real question is who goes down/is gone when Mune is back? Is Gonzalez obvious? Or will they consider 1 of Beni, Acuna, or Grichuk?

I think you’d have to at least see what a team is willing to give up for Grichuk? Doubt it would be much, but never know. Going to be a real OF crunch for Grichuk to get any playing time to warrant keeping him.

Trading Grichuk would be insane. He’s been fantastic since he got here and is one of the best in the league against lefties. They can’t get rid of him.

Wow, lots of update as of late. Hopefully we can get most of these guys back by the end of the month.

Still haven’t seen much on Thorpe, Bush, or Berroa.

The Sox will have the best record in baseball once we get healthy.

If Teel, Mune, and Schultz are all in Charlotte together my sacks gonna be full of seamen.

Didn't Thorpe have appendicitis or something? Not sure on the other two.

Hopefully "full strength" by the end of the month. If Shane Smith figures it out even a little as well...

Mune is still at least 2-3 weeks away from rehab assignment?

He did and the last update was he was throwing again, but that is a super vague update for someone on the recovery from TJS.

He did but I thought I saw where he was back working out.

Looked fine doing a 70% jog or so in the video some japan accounts posted on twitter. Key thing will be how the leg responds the next day. I'm rehabbing a decent calf strain myself and after testing it hard the next day it's always sore. Sign of scar tissue to break and more healing to do. He's got some of the best in the world on it and all the prehab and rehab gadgets you could ever went and to boot he's a 26 year old pro athlete. I'd think he's back in the 6 week timeline.
