let's give Nishida the same kind of rope that Acuña has been given and we can see which guy ends up being more valuable

not saying Acuña doesn't have a higher ceiling but I don't think we can assume we have seen the final product of Nishida after only 10 games

Regardless of performance, Acuna over Nishida is a no-brainer decision because they are basically the same player and Nishida has options. I think people forget that Nishida is actually a year older than Acuna.

Acuna is likely a bust but there’s no reason to risk losing him for another equally bad and older backup utility guy that still has options. More than likely, neither guy will amount to anything so it probably won’t matter at all in the end.

I think they will have to choose between Acuna and Nishida when Pereira is ready. And since Nishida has options, I think he’s the odd man out.
