The Padres will be rebuilding in 2027. Yea, let's do what they did.
Or we could be like the Brewers.

I don't want to be anything like the Brewers or Rays, outside of the consistently competing part.

Those teams are miserable to root for. You say goodbye to your favorite players every couple of years, and have a revolving door of talent that gets to go elsewhere when the time comes.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Gonzo can go back down to Charlotte and stop his arb clock once Mune is back. That's fine. He just got a nice pay pump for 6 weeks or whatever and now he knows he close he is and what he has to contin

I lived in Wisconsin for years. Their fans are far from miserable. They’re in pennant races virtually every year. Make the post-season virtually every year. They have a realistic shot at the World Series occasionally and they enjoy new stars quite often. Yeah, they lament losing their name guys but get over it pretty quickly once they start winning games again…virtually every year.

So what is different, besides the winning?

A budding superstar falls into your lap that can bring a country with him… YOU DO NOT LET THAT GO.

Especially when said player expresses loyalty to this team.

He’s staying and if he doesn’t I’m going to send Jerry some of my fucking s%*#.

It may not be up to the Sox, it's up to Mune. If they don't make him an offer close to what his agent thinks the free market price will be and a months worth of negotiations proves fruitless ,Mune will test Free Agency. If you offer 6 years $150 M and his agent thinks he should get 7yr. $200M then it might not make a difference.

LOL Easy big fella you should know that JR hasn't even had a $100M contract. You think all of a sudden he'll do a $150-$200M one ? He don't want his kids stuck with a bad long contract especially when they're developing the area around the United Center. Maybe JR has nothing to gain if the Sox franchise increases in value if Ishbia already negotiated a set price to purchase.

The one good thing is Ishbia could be a wild card in negotiations with Mune's agent.

Seriosly this isnt the days before free agency. I don't know what he's talking about. Players come and go and superstars aren't trapped on bad teams or stuck with negotiating with 1 owner.

Mune took a short term contract to bet on himself and show what he can do to the league. It looks like he won that bet. He might like being here but is not going to take any discount to be here imo. The Sox will be outbid I am sure and he will be gone. I hope I am wrong but I am just gonna enjoy him while he's here.

The Sox were outbid on Konerko in his prime (right after the World Series), and they matched the offer to bring him back home.

He was pretty bad in Japan last year, and is a notoriously bad teammate. Hopefully we learn from our mistakes with Tony, and don't add a toxic dose to what seems to be a pretty solid chemistry mix right now.

I don't know if he is toxic for the clubhouse, but I for one want nothing to do with Aroldis Chapman.
