We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Colson is one of our best hitters against LHP and is a top 8 SS in the game at 24 with one year experience. Nobody is trading him, including the WS, because you might have Roch in 2028.

Not now anyway. But I wouldn’t be mad, as long as they had a stopgap to step in. Which could have been Gonzalez

He is, and he is.

But there’s no way he’s only trusting his own opinions on pitching talent. Even if was a pitcher instead of an infielder in the majors, he would still be listening to other members of his staff on pitchers to target.

It’s not unlike the corporate world. The higher up you go, the more you delegate to other people. Of course, if s%*# hits the fan, you are also ultimately the one to blame.

Correct.... but blaming Bannister for pitching failures and not the final decision maker is also what's wrong with the corporate world.

All the credit constantly goes to the top, all the blame gets off boarded down below. It's nonsense. The pitching failures rest on Getz, and let's not forget GETZ was the one who wanted Hagen, not the phantom pitching guy behind the curtain.

Leaders lead. Followers bicker about definitions of roles.

Here's what I can tell you, through our interactions you are a clear definition of a follower. You defer to authority constantly. Give benefit of the doubt to people because of their titles or positions. You rarely have an original thought that wasn't derived through your deferral to someone else.

If I want to be lectured and ridiculed about how to lead or design successful leadership structures, you would be one of the last people I would come to.

Edit: When Getz didn't develop anyone as director of PD, you said it was the fault of the GM for not setting him up for success. When Getz doesn't develop any pitchers as the GM, you said it is the fault of the Director of Pitching for not doing his job. The hypocrisy is hilarious.

No, I didn't. Besides, I consider Burke and Martin to be "developed". Pitchers getting injured doesn't mean "development failed". Really, dude. Play your word games with somebody else. I'm really crushed that I won't be able to wait around for you to be in charge of designing "leadership structures".

It's funny how sports bros think real jobs are people resisting doing their jobs because everybody else is stupid, and that's "leadership".

I agree with this then. Getz chose his staff and he will rely on all of them to some extent. So if there is failure, it is ultimately on Getz, not just the guys he hired. Getz is the one who hired them afterall so he takes the fall.

But Getz gets most of the credit for Vargas, Peters, Colson's miracle career resuscitation, Mune, etc.?

I think they have to take a look at what's going on with pitching development. There's been a bunch of injuries, which happens, one key guy got the yips. There have been others who have developed fine (Burke, Martin, Hudson, Taylor).

It's pretty short-sighted to set up an area, and after a year of setbacks, start firing people. I think they have to re-assess. A couple of people here haven't gotten over not being personally called by JR to run the White Sox and exude envy on a daily basis. Getz has set up an entire hitting department that's paying off in spades. Maybe they've got some fine-tuning to do on the pitching side. If Banny won't hear of it, then move on. If he's open and honest, and can be the change, then soldier on.

Somebody go tell the foodies to make up a rumor.

The Orioles probably did this to free up Adley Rutschmann for a trade to the White Sox.

Not the White Sox, but some possible movement.

What a strange ass trade. Salary dump for Tigers, but why the f*** do the orioles want him? We could have done better. Rogers is a strong leader and solid behind the dish, he'd be better than Romo and Quero despite him not being good either.

Hopefully we’re aiming better than Jake Rogers.

Very strange. Why do the Orioles need or want the expiring contract of a backup catcher when they are out of it?

There's little if anything out there catching wise. Yankees are desperate too, we'll see if anything goes down.
