Weingartner's game has blossomed in a big way over the last calendar year. His frame and physical tools continue to tick up. Combine those budding traits with what was already a distinguised hit tool and it's easy to get excited about what the final package could become.

Weingartner has a simple swing with simple triggers and an all-fields approach to hitting. He drops his hands back into a locked position at foot strike and takes a direct path to the ball. It allows Weingartner to hold the barrel through the zone for a prolonged amount of time. Weingarnter is growing into some raw power and could flirt with 15-18 homers per year if afforded a full-time role as a professional. For now, it's safely average raw power projection at the next level.

A 70-grade runner, Weingartner adds value on the bases by putting pressure on the defense. He's quick out of the box and takes aggressive angles around the bags. Weingartner has played some infield, however most like his game in centerfield or right where the speed and plus arm strength plays up.

Weingartner carries at least two plus tools and a bat that continues trending up. Weingartner's brother was a sixth round pick in the 2025 Draft.

As an underclassman, Weingartner was primarily a pitcher who showed a solid fastball with erratic command. Now he’s generating buzz for his athleticism and tool set as an outfielder, as well. He’s an explosive athlete with 80 speed and a 70 arm. That explosiveness also shows up in the batter’s box with the bat speed he’s able to generate, though there is length to his swing that leads to questions about how his hitting ability will translate against better competition. On the mound, Weingartner is up to 93 mph with what should be more velocity in the tank. He has flashed a two-plane slider that gets swing-and-miss and a curveball, with his slider the better pitch. Weingartner has a nascent changeup that he rarely uses. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound outfielder and righthander is one of the more exciting pure athletes and toolsheds in the class, though his baseball polish on both sides of the plate remains a real question. He’s committed to Penn State.

I feel like this takes Santarelli off the table. Could be wrong.

Hadn't heard of this kid so I'll defer to Dirty, but a 70+ grade arm and run? That'll do.

BA does not like projections as much, but 80 grade speed and 70 arm is the kind of tools I was hoping we’d see more of.

I like it, that arm and speed will play, if he can get on base.

Same. This is much more White Sox profile then Santarelli. Up the middle profile with some big tools.

Almost college players in the 5th. Makes sense to take who you like and then punt picks in the 6th & 7th if you have control over the preps you like.

We have very little in our system at that spot.

I still expect one more prep. Santarelli feels like he could still fit, although I’m lower on what I think he’ll cost than others.

Tronstein is a polished righthanded hitter with an undersized frame at 6-foot, 185 pounds, but a lengthy track record of performance to go with solid athleticism and baseball instincts. While that profile made him a prospect to follow entering the spring, Tronstein’s jump in impact and exit velocities this spring with SoCal powerhouse Harvard-Westlake High caused him to fly up draft boards. He was one of the best performers in California and hit over .500 with 10 home runs. Tronstein has solid rhythm in the box with a low handset and a swing that can get barred out. He’s an aggressive hitter who likes to swing, and expanded the zone frequently throughout the 2025 circuit, but has the bat speed and barrel feel to hit for both solid averages and more power than you’d expect of his size. While Tronstein’s jump in strength and power this spring has changed his profile, there are some questions about how the swing and approach work to tap into that power, and whether it will impact his hit tool against better pitching. Tronstein is a plus runner with the defensive tools to stick at either shortstop or center field. Center field could be more likely, and he has a quick first step, solid route running skills and an average arm. Tronstein is committed to Vanderbilt and is a bit polarizing as a pro prospect because of his size, but some teams view him as a top-five-round prospect.

Contrades is an awesome pick for the Padres.

Not gonna pretend to know anything about these players, but I am a fan of the approach so far, prep bats with lots of upside and college pitchers. Would still like to see them roll the dice on a prep pitcher in the next few rounds.

That is what stuck out to me. He played mostly SS and P in high school but the Sox announced him as an OF. They clearly feel the same way.
