5 hours ago5 hr Author Clay Burdette. Xavier OF. 274 on O-S. Not ranked on BA. Callis thinks the Sox give him a shot in CF.Scouting ReportBats: R, Throws: RBurdette has some of the best raw power in the class. Draft-eligible as a second-year sophomore in 2025, scouts wanted to see what one more year of Burdette at the college ranks could turn into. The power has always been prodigious, but cleaning up the at bats will be critical in redefining his draft position.Burdette can really compress a baseball. He's posted exit velocities north of 117 mph and owns some fo the best batted-ball data of anyone in the country. That said, swing-and-miss has neutralized his raw strength too often. Whiff rates and chase rates that far exceed national averages have left scouts wondering if the hit tool can survive in professional baseball. There's not a specific wart here either -- in-zone, out-of-zone, sliders, elevated velocity... it can all give Burdette issues depending on the day. That said, when Burdette is a bit more passive at the dish and forces pitchers into the zone, his success rates jump. There's little question this is at least 70-grade raw juice, but proving he can get to it at the next level will be the question he must answer down the stretch.Burdette isn't a one-trick pony. He's an above average runner with a thundering stride. The speed and athleticism plays in right field where his above average arm strength also fits nicely.Rounds 11 through 20 are the floor for Burdette, however if he hits more than he has down the stretch, he could hear his name called as early as the fourth or fifth round. 4 hours ago4 hr Author White Sox select Jayson Jones. College senior 3B. Either need savings to pay for some other guys picked previously, or budgeting space for a shot on a guy past round 10. Edited 4 hours ago4 hr by DirtySox
4 hours ago4 hr Author 492 at O-S.Scouting ReportBats: R, Throws: RJones was one of the most physical frames in the 2022 high school class and remains ultra-intimidating today. He already destroys the baseball. On the data side of things, he's a monster. It's among the most outlandish barrel-speed/hand-speed combinations in the 2026 class. Despite the 70-grade raw power, Jones has struggled to get to it in games as the hit tool has consistently lagged behind. Stops at Arkansas and Oklahoma State have not gone as expected, however Jones is turning over a new leaf with Wichita State.Jones is a primary third baseman but has been utilized more and more in the outfield the last two seasons in college baseball. Jones has stiffened up a bit as he's gotten bigger and stronger leading some to question if his future lays in a corner outfield role or first base going forward. He certainly has tools on the dirt. Jones is especially adept charging the baseball and he'll flash above average arm strength moving to his left and coming in on the dirt. The fear with Jones is the hit tool will never buoy at a level that makes his raw power and physical/athletic traits play on the field. He's gradually gotten better as the years have gone on in college, some believing he's got a chance to own a 40-grade hit tool when all is said and done.

4 hours ago4 hr Jones should be a $7.5k signing. Hope for a couple more as that would imply something big in the 11th or 12th round. FWIW, Shirley specifically mentioned flexing their financial muscle through the 12th.
