You are correct. By my count, the Sox currently have 27 men on the 26 man roster, 14 of them pitchers. So either Schweitzer or Trevor Richards would seem to be headed to Charlotte. If they want to bring Hays up, they're going to need to IL someone. Braden was scratched yesterday. Is he hurt?

He has an infection on his ankle.

Literally, no one will say we should have done that.

Chris Getz is bad at this. People mistaken the ability to hire smart people for draft purposes with being good as the sox GM right now. This guy has gotten taken to the woodshed in almost every deal

The Canadians right? Vaguely remember it.

I heard the pal, guy routine on Ocean's 11 first.....maybe I'm just old.

I personally loved Doyle in 24. Very interesting player if Fuller can fix em

What’s the indicator of this?

The 1.098 OPS over 47 plate appearances in AAA during rehab. The post you quoted said “might” be coming around, so I’d say those numbers at AAA show his offense “might” be coming around.

Correct me if I am missing something here:

Pereira is DFA and Doyle is on the 26-man roster and will platoon with Peters.

Q is being sent down and Joey Bart will platoon with Romo.

Castillo will start and Fedde will go to the pen.

Noah Schultz is still a starter

Brazoban goes to the pen taking Dominguez role.

Don't the Sox have to send 1 more player down or DFA off the 26 man

( Hays is still rehabbing? but once his rehab is complete it will be either him or Grichuk getting DFA)

Yeah, I think a pitcher needs to go down.

I have none.

Hopefully. I just looked at his strikeouts over the years and lost even more hope. Yikes…

The Rat Pack version or the Clooney/Pitt version?

Did Getz comment on this trade yet

White Sox GM Chris Getz accomplishes his goals; will that...

Getz was beaming when he met the media Monday after the trade deadline. Still, he was a bit tired. “Feel like I’ve gone through a day-night doubleheader myself,” he said.

”Since returning from the break, All-Star Tristan Peters has a slash line of .098/.190/.118. Getz anticipates a platoon with the left-handed-hitting Peters and the right-handed Doyle, but he’ll leave that up to manager Will Venable. However they’re used, offense still might be an issue.

Doyle is slashing .214/.287/.282 with one home run in 45 games this season. He returned Friday from an oblique injury that cost him two months. His best season was in 2024, when he hit 23 homers, stole 30 bases and had an OPS+ of 102. Getz thinks the Sox can help Doyle, who’s under club control through 2029.”

“We see some offensive potential that hasn’t been tapped into recently,” Getz said. “Injuries are behind him. Our projections [say] if Brent Doyle comes to the White Sox, we’re going to add wins not only in 2026 but in 2027.”

Clooney/Pitt. Casey Affleck and Scoot Caan pull the ole buddy/pal routine.

his xwOBA in AAA right now is 276, which would rank him in the bottom 10% of that league. His actual wOBA is 478. Hmmmm

From a Rockies fan on Reddit:

Rockies fan here...

You guys just got a dog. Had a great '24 season, looked like he might be a future star.

Last year he lost a child to a miscarriage then got injured. This year he seemed to be getting back on track and then got hurt again. Looked good in his rehab games and the couple games when he got back.

Hopefully a change of scenery helps get him back on track. Gonna miss watching him play CF.

I actually kind of like the move for 2027 and beyond, but I don't like it for 2026. Doesn't offer enough as a hitter to PH late in games.

That said, a Peters-Doyle-Montgomery outfield in 9th innings with a lead is pretty dynamite

I hope Doyle fucking mashed and flashes leather like no tomorrow just so that everyone upset will have to make a 180 on him.

Will eat crow if I’m wrong on this one but I dig it.

Just wish we would have got fucking Foster Griffin at the last minute. Really think he may end up being a major difference in the Central.

Watching some of this guy's 2024 highlights, he reminds me so much of Adam Engel.

I really think this is a prototypical Fuller / Getz guy. After his breakout year in 2024, he lowered his hands some and tried to hit for a higher average by sacrificing some launch angle.

In his rehab stint he expressed his frustration with changing what had been working, likening it to being “on a hamster wheel”.

Fuller will likely bring his hands back up ( like he did with Vargas ), work to improve his bat speed, and encourage him to do more focused damage in the zone with a launch angle that maximizes SLG for some AVG.

If they platoon him with Peters I’m guessing he gets about 150 - 180 at bats and we will see something like .260 / .325 / .460.

Somewhere in the 10 bombs range with 15 stolen bases and good glove defense.

If Peters can’t break out of his slump and adjust to the league, we also brought in an insurance policy here.

Best case scenario is we get him back on track and got a 3 - 4 WAR centerfielder for the next three years.

When I first took a look at his numbers, I was confused and pissed… but the more I have learned about this kid - I completely get it and really think that this will be a move that a lot of people applaud with surprise.

Some explanation in here for the 2025 down season. Apparently his wife suffered a Miscarriage in May of that year. He basically says in the article that he found it hard to focus on baseball due to that.

Another poster shared similar sentiment from a Rockies forum post in this thread, calling Doyle “a dog”.

Seems taylor made for Schrif cheese too… “O-DOYLE RULES!!!”
