Sox catching, Teel back in September maybe

Man, feel a bit for Quero but also not really as he's stunk outside a couple clutch hits. Hopefully Romo can figure something the f*** out and run into a few.

felt like quero has been doing better, must be about defense

I don’t want to hate on Getz too much here because I like the Bart addition, but this is Hahn level of straight up lying to fans’ faces. 🤣

Let’s be honest… Bart and Romo is the catching tandem of deadline failure.

Min Quero service time and let him get all the AAA AB doesn't hurt either.

If I’m the Sox clubhouse I’m actually livid that this is the level of commitment they have to winning. Drew Romo even has to know he’s a wasted roster spot.

If Romo really wants to help this team win, he’ll find a way to pull a hamstring or a groin this week.

Quero has options left, Romo doesn't. Quero gets consistent playing time without pressure, Bart plays most of the time, and Romo is gone for good when Teel comes back.

Well that’s not true. Romo has 2 left

Ahh I didn't know the options situation....now it makes more sense thar they chose Romo over Quero.

Anyway, Bart should be starting most games in August and that should be an improvement over the present situation.

That's what I get for trusting other people online. Oh well. The rest of what I said is still true.

I think ultimately they probably think Quero has some ceiling and want to give him a chance to figure it out.

also that Romo is pedestrian bad behind the dish whereas Quero has been awful.

Romo was in Charlotte this year while on the Sox 40 man. Pretty sure he not only has options but we already used it for the year so he'd be fine to go back down

The bigger roster issue is having 4 most mediocre catchers on an already crowded 40 man

Just get him here for the post season

Getz concluded that he was not going to trade prospect gold for 4-5 weeks of a catcher. If Teel comes back at or near 100% on or around Sept 1, that would be a big boost.

Boston gave up a sh1t ton of prospects to get Rutsch who is maybe about as good as Teel but no better. Kyle could be awesome if he could just stay on the field..

SoxTalk: this team lost 100some games, no way they could hope to be .500 in 2026!

Also SoxTalk: this team is miraculously kind of good somehow and nobody saw it coming, why don't we throw out all the work done over the last 3 years for a .700 OPS catcher we need for about a month!

The fact that Getz doesn't think more people need to be replaced should actually be a positive in the clubhouse.

It’s funny how you just continue to make up stuff in your own mind that no one suggested. Where are the posts of people saying Getz should have thrown a bunch of prospects at acquiring Adley Rutschman or even Tyler Stephenson?

It seems like the pulse of the community is that they would have liked another starter, and everybody seemed resigned to punt on a catcher. I just caught up on the trade strings. The prices being paid were nuts. And to a comment you've made a couple of times, that you would have liked the pieces traded for Doyle (Adams, the DSL SS) used to get a starting pitcher. I think those two would have had to be the 3rd and 4th pieces in a Carlson-headlined deal for run-of-the-mill, 2nd tier dudes.

I would have passed on Doyle but I wouldn’t have balked at Adams and Wolkow for a rental starter. Hopefully we won’t need one and Thorpe/Smith can fill the role. I don’t think Getz ever considered a rental player, which seems fairly obvious with all four players that were acquired being under control for future year(s).

I don't think Adams and Wolkow get you a decent rental starter.

I can’t believe they sent Quero down, they must really be unhappy with his game but to keep Romo is really head scratching.

Agree. Hate to say it, but I believe Quero is the least bad of the Romo/Quero duo.
