12 hours ago12 hr There should be punishment that is handed down by the FO to Venable. Not sure what it would be, but your job is literally to put your team in the best position for success, and he failed in a huge way, after a 13 inning game the night before. I don’t care that he “owned up” to the mistake. You teach your players to be focused and not make mental errors, Venable’s main job duties are to sit on a bench for 2.5 hours a night. You can’t make that mistake at this level, and their should be repercussions for his actions
12 hours ago12 hr Gonna be a long weekend I’m afraid. Sox have to deal with 2nd half Gavin tomorrow, who is on a 5 game double digit K streak. Then another lefty Sunday which means Venable will trot out his God awful LHP lineup.

Honestly that probably saved the first inning from being 6-0 instead of 2-0.
10 hours ago10 hr Today sucked but when we take a step back, the level of consistency this team has shown this year has been remarkable. We have yet to deal with the kinds of losing streaks other teams have been.

Victim or not, you still made a grave mistake that was a totally uncalled for and was just sheer incompetence from a manager in the dog days of August trying to get this team going again after a very lackluster series in Boston. Taking your starter out, by mistake because you weren’t paying attention is inexcusable

Taking your starter out, by mistake because you weren’t paying attention is inexcusableWell, I think it’s kind of wild to compare what Will did to a drunk driver not killing anyone. But, to your point I guess, it was a brain fart, at the beginning of a game, that was about to get out of hand, that ended up not getting out of hand (in that moment) probably because of that brain fart. Situationally, not a big deal. Had it been in a much more important situation, like a tie ballgame in the 8th or something, then I might agree with you a bit more. But it wasn’t, so I’m inclined to think it really wasn’t a big deal as you think it was. Edited 10 hours ago10 hr by AntMan26
10 hours ago10 hr Amazing what 5 days in baseball does. Riding high after taking 2 of 3 against Tampa then we have a poor trade deadline then lose 4 in a row. Somehow still up 2 games in the division but that will be gone quick if we don't stop this skid by this weekend

1 hour ago1 hr Yesterday felt like a loss before it even started because of the circumstances of the previous game. What bothered me more than losing yesterday was not using Newcomb in the final Red Sox game because they were “saving” him for yesterday and then he ended up not even pitching. They could have won that Red Sox game if Newcomb pitched instead of Richards or Murphy.
