8/8 Sox vs. G Words. 6:15 PM CST, ESPN the Ocho (actually FOX)

Can the White Sox go into the old UNC four corners offense and just run out the clock on this season?

Feels like the end of 2008 but with even more feeble teams albeit a four way horse race.

Win tonight eases the pain. Loss and the season is over.

Guardians have hit into some tough luck so far. The Sox might as well be lucky to have the one hit. May be a harbinger of things to come.

Pretty much. I'd bet against them making the playoffs this season.

They have three more veteran teams chasing them, so it'll be tough. I could certainly see Houston slipping past the Central winner into the 2nd bye.

They've also only had 12 games at home since the end of June before this series. They've faced a bunch of good teams over that span as well. They have some guys slumping but have basically been treading water. I'd say that's impressive in its own right.

Boston was tough. They need to catch a breather against Cleveland and win one.

Bottom of the order had some good looks last time. Maybe they can manufacture something here.

Since the beginning of July, they've played Cleveland, Boston, A's, Toronto, Texas, Houston, Yankees, Tampa Bay, Boston, and now Cleveland. That's a tough stretch considering a majority of it was done on the road.

That's the first time a starter has gotten 2+ K's on Kwan since May 10

Meidroth got one and fouled it off

Can we seriously just let the pitcher bat. And DH for Romo?

When I played in college, we could carry huge rosters. I don't even know what the limit was. But the important thing is that there was a period of time that we almost never let our catchers bat. We had like 5 of them and just swapped them out every time they came up. Apropos of nothing

This is like the Brian Anderson vs. Mackowiak debate in 2006...except this time they don't even have a good defensive catcher to make it interesting.
