Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?

Featured Replies

Fun fact: since coming up last season, Chase and Colson have a combined 11 fWAR. You want to know where some of the improvement came from, there you go. And a brilliant decision from our FO to realize Colson was a MLB SS with some elite defensive upside and Chase was a good enough hitter to stick at the keystone and easily slid over.

Not happening. Sounds fun but don't see where he plays everyday. Also, rushing him to the majors in a season he started in A+ in the middle of a playoff race sounds like a great way to f*** up his dev

I met him once at batting cages in Bartlett around 2008, he was showing off his bat benches(which were very cool and I think he has put a few of them around the park) and when he shook my hand, all I

I’ll play. Roch did not look like he was going to be up in ‘27. But Bonemer does look like he will, if he has a spot on the infield. Someone is getting traded.

I feel like recent draftees are always worn out the year they get drafted and don't perform too well. I think there's a chance he is up next year, but I have no issue waiting longer. I'll assume he isn't up next season.

It makes most sense to put Bonemer at 3rd and let Vargas and Mune split time at 1st/DH, assuming Vargas doesn't get pissed about it. Vargas is at -4 OAA at 3rd base. I'd imagine Bonemer would be better than him. Call Bonemer up after we get the extra year of control.

Bonemer probably comes up when rosters expand

Is he on the 40-man and if not, is there space on the 40-man. Also, bringing him up now would start his arbitration clock only for a few weeks of him trying to get acclimated to MLB pitching.

Not saying its a good idea but they could conceivably call him up and then keep him down for 6 weeks next year to get the extra year year. Certainly wouldnt plan to that; if hes good he stays.

Hes not on 40 man. Thats a bigger issue for the offseason than now.

We don't have to trade any of these guys. Mune may not be here in 2027; if we don't/can't resign Vargas, we'll have an opening. Sam's a gamer, but that position could be upgraded. And yes, putting an IF out there my not be ideal. But IFs are drafted with the idea that they are athletic and can move positions; and frankly, our farm is about as weak in the OF (understandable, given priority on MI) as it is in pitching (not so understandable).
And with all due respect to "Clutch" it's still a 0,00 FWAR at DH. That's a Zero WAR. That's another opening.
Fangraphs loves our up the middle defense (some of that may be WAR factory stuff; I don't know). Colson is struggling with the bat; can't have him at that low OBP, but I suspect he'll figure things out.

And if we do trade one of the young studs, it must be for multiple young pitchers. Multiple and young. None of this 2 years of pitcher X stuff. We just don't churn out enough young talent to make trades like that. After all of this, the farm is ranked, what #15?

A bunch of our top guys have graduated and are reasons why the big league team is winning. They’ve also got about zero from Latin America. You’re also responding to a thread about what to do with all these good young players like Colson, Bonemer, and Sam.

We’ve gotten 0.9 fWAR out of the DH spot and that’s 9th overall in baseball.
