22 hours ago22 hr Fun fact: since coming up last season, Chase and Colson have a combined 11 fWAR. You want to know where some of the improvement came from, there you go. And a brilliant decision from our FO to realize Colson was a MLB SS with some elite defensive upside and Chase was a good enough hitter to stick at the keystone and easily slid over. Someone is getting traded.I feel like recent draftees are always worn out the year they get drafted and don't perform too well. I think there's a chance he is up next year, but I have no issue waiting longer. I'll assume he isn't up next season. It makes most sense to put Bonemer at 3rd and let Vargas and Mune split time at 1st/DH, assuming Vargas doesn't get pissed about it. Vargas is at -4 OAA at 3rd base. I'd imagine Bonemer would be better than him. Call Bonemer up after we get the extra year of control. Edited 22 hours ago22 hr by ron883

Certainly wouldnt plan to that; if hes good he stays.Hes not on 40 man. Thats a bigger issue for the offseason than now. Edited 22 hours ago22 hr by Buehrle>Wood
21 hours ago21 hr We don't have to trade any of these guys. Mune may not be here in 2027; if we don't/can't resign Vargas, we'll have an opening. Sam's a gamer, but that position could be upgraded. And yes, putting an IF out there my not be ideal. But IFs are drafted with the idea that they are athletic and can move positions; and frankly, our farm is about as weak in the OF (understandable, given priority on MI) as it is in pitching (not so understandable). And with all due respect to "Clutch" it's still a 0,00 FWAR at DH. That's a Zero WAR. That's another opening.Fangraphs loves our up the middle defense (some of that may be WAR factory stuff; I don't know). Colson is struggling with the bat; can't have him at that low OBP, but I suspect he'll figure things out. And if we do trade one of the young studs, it must be for multiple young pitchers. Multiple and young. None of this 2 years of pitcher X stuff. We just don't churn out enough young talent to make trades like that. After all of this, the farm is ranked, what #15? They’ve also got about zero from Latin America. You’re also responding to a thread about what to do with all these good young players like Colson, Bonemer, and Sam.

You'd be setting him and the pitching up for failure.Nobody is pushing colson harder than himself at this point, in the dog days of his first full (very productive) season. Colson has been ELITE with his glove the last month. He's back up to 9.1 runs above avg after slipping to around 6 at the ASB.I definitely don’t believe it’s nonsense but ok

And this WAR business for DH is a little confusing as it also includes their defensive prowess (negative for both, although I don't remember Beni playing the field at all this season) which isn't relevant to DH analysis. Still, there is room for improvement at least on the left side and there is more room at the inn for young hitters. Edited 4 hours ago4 hr by GreenSox

He was a little better than that all year until a little bad streak lately.I wouldn't move him for a rookie whose defense hasn't been tested in the bigs.

The Sox know Bonemer's defensive ability better than anybody. I'd imagine if he is passable at SS, he'll be a decent 3B. Where else could they play Bonemer when he is ready? They could really use a good right-handed bat, and he looks like he'll mash. I guess they could DH him if they really want. Seems like a waste though. The only problem I can envision is Vargas not wanting to move off 3B. Hopefully he doesn't make a scene about it. Edited 2 hours ago2 hr by ron883

1 hour ago1 hr Sounds good. I will point out that CF Peters is #3 on the team in WAR and is double that of LF Antonacci.
33 minutes ago33 min That’s something NOBODY saw coming! WOW!! It would be freaking UNREAL if Bonemer could prove adequate in center. If they surround him with fast, athletic guys in the corner and he shows out as having some range… that would be flipping amazing.2B - Chase / Sam / Roch1B / DH - Mune / Vargas / Bonemer3B - Vargas / Bonemer / Colson / RochSS - Colson / Roch DH - Beni / Bonemer / ColsonRF - B Montgomery / Peters / DoyleCF - Bonemer / Peters / DoyleLF - Peters / Sam / DoyleC - Teel / Quero / Rogers / BartWhile it wouldn’t be a traditional lineup by any means, it could be a managers dream when playing matchups. It also has tons of padding for players who don’t develop / players who are able to be traded for rotation help / etc.I like how creative and flexible the development staff is showing itself to be. Borderline innovative.
27 minutes ago27 min He has the sprint speed to play CF, so I don'tthink that part of it is an issue. Would be incredible for his long term value if he can stick in CF. A 30-HR CF is a rare thing.
