The Sox dumped a total of $12 million in salary for this year and next year combined by sending Dominguez to the Mariners in the trade. While that wasn’t a bad thing, it means Castillo is only costing the Sox $30 million for the rest of this season and all of next season, and he’s only under contract for one more season.Do you truly think that Jerry would approve Getz signing a younger starter for multiple years at $25+ million per year via free agency in the upcoming offseason? If you do, you’re kidding yourself. There’s a reason they wasted $30 million on this bum starter nearing retirement. That’s cheap compared to free agency. 1 hour ago1 hr I don't see how they can start Castillo next week. We got away with it last night cuz we scored 4 before he took the mound, and the bullpen was great. Meanwhile, Boston Smith has over 30 homers so far.
