If you do Charlotte/Kanny you can add in Winston Salem as well, its pretty close.

You need to go to the game where they're giving out the Harry Potter Wands. You're magic ! 🪄

Hoping to do some road trips with the Sox in the upcoming years. I'll put Target at the top of the list for that, but probably gonna see our minor league affiliates first starting with Birmingham or Charlotte/Kannapolis next season.

I concur. Did a trip to see W-S and Kanny. It's like a 45 minute drive. Because the town is cool and the stadium is great I thought W-S > Kanny.

LETS GO BOYS!!

SWEEP THE CENTRAL CAMPAIGN ROLLS ON!!!

Surprised to see Benni in there - he’s got some pretty ugly career numbers against Ober. Would rather see Sam DH again ( since he loves it ) and toss Doyle out in the field.

Prove me wrong Beni!!!!

Where do you guys think Roch will be playing next season?

He's due for a complete game shut out.

No opener for Fedde?

Just FYI, I was responding to the poster who said he should be released.

He shouldn't have been acquired in the first place, of course, but regardless of if you agree with that or not JR wouldn't let them do that.

And I agree with you in the sense that you don't get a guy like this only to release him after five starts.

The question is, if he keeps stinking up the place, when do the Sox let him go?

Respectfully responding to @Lip Man 1 from yesterday's game thread.

I disagree over whether he should have been acquired in the first place. I'm guessing the price for currently productive starters was astronomical, and Getz was unprepared to empty out the farm system to get a glorified #2 and #4. The pitch selection they had in mind when acquiring Castillo worked against a 'not good' Reds' team. If they can coax more of that out of him, they have a controlled starter with playoff experience, and did well in that exposure as recently as last October.

Reinsdorf does have a history of extending pitchers. They've generally gone the rout of trading for and developing pitching, rather than grabbing up a free agents at market prices. Trades do get players at cheaper market prices. I don't know if that's a dictum that comes down from JR, or if Schu, KW and Hahn skewed that direction to stay out of those awkward conversations with the boss.

As far as Castillo is concerned, I would think they don't even start having "the talk" until next Spring Training. A last resort would most probably be seeing what he looks like rested after an offseason.

It's a reds offense that still has players in it who are historically good hitters if you go by the back of their baseball card. The key to that start IMO was how much he used the changeup and fastball. He also employed different arm angles which made it much harder for the batters to pick up what he was throwing.

I’d like the Chicago White Sox to win this game.

You beat me to this post. Was gonna say the same thing.

Well, maybe Kay.

Remember 2, 3, or 4 months ago when so many people were hoping that Sox could find a suitable pitcher to replace Fedde as our 5th starter.

Also a ton of people hoping that the Sox could get a little better than a lottery ticket for Kay at the trade deadline.

How things can change.

Sure would be nice if we’d get a quality start out of a rotation piece, final… as Arron Lewis would say,

It has been a while…

Depends on the time of year and how he does in the AFL. Probably starts in AA and we see him in Chicago at some point after super two status.
