If you're worried about the team collectively getting into the wrong headspace, the Tommy Pham types are what you like. He's in his own world. That was probably my big takeaway from 2024. He was just going to focus on doing his business and it didn't matter if it was the world's biggest s%*# show going on around him.

What I would be most curious about is how he feels about Sam Antonacci

Feels like that's what kept the team afloat during the tough times before. If Pham is somehow suppressing that, then his presence is a huge drain on the team. Totally ruins the vibes this team had going.

So true, and it’s why I warned all those saying “they should be able to go 16-15 the rest of the way”. There’s just no track record for so many of these guys.

He either needs to layoff the high fastballs or layoff the low and inside breaking ball. He's pretty much an automatic out once you get him to 2 strikes right now.

Pham has had one at bat and then promptly got hurt.

He is a waste of roster space and based on his clubhouse explosion at the MLBPA rep just a few days ago is a head case.

With respect he's the LAST thing the Sox need. getting someone who could actually play and make a difference is what they needed but Getz had other ideas at the trade deadline or was under orders from JR.

He’s getting moved off SS in the next year anyways. They have some difficult decisions to make with some personnel. IMO, you extend Vargas and build around him, Roch, Bonemer, Teel and Meidroth on offense. The three most expendable offensive guys are Colson, Braden and Antonacci.

Well, Bonemer could end up at a corner OF spot after taking on CF now and AFL and a 100% Cholowsky takes SS quite easily/naturally…

It's been clear for several starts that Kay is tired and wearing down.
Richards' overall has certainly outpitched his 91MPH 4-seamer. But really he should be the last guy in the pen...if in the pen at all.

Sox have better and fresher arms in Charlotte.

Valid point but do you throw those kids into the middle of a divisional race? Is that fair to them??

Personally given the situation the Sox are in, flushing a season right down the toilet, I would, but the indications are Getz won't.

Maybe that changes in the next few days if they continue to suck.

One thing is for certain, I believe, either they pick themselves off the floor in Cleveland and regain some momentum then be able to use the rest of the schedule to their advantage...or they roll over and die and we won't have to worry about things.

This was the worst lineup of the year. Strikeout king Colson hitting clean up against lefty. Quero hitting 5 th and then Doyle with Rogers and Acuna also thrown in the mix. That line up probably could not even beat a good AAA team. Will showing again his terrible line up construction and lack of urgency.

Will hitting Colson clean up tonight was managerial malpractice.

Pressure in September is when managers and players either step up or wilt. So far the season has been way above expectations but with the pressure of September both team and manager seem to be wilting.

Not making post season will be such a let down, but there are still many positives from this season, and you never know they might still sort it out and make post season!

We have good shortstop prospects in the Minors, trade this loser while you can before he has no value at all. We can live with Meidroth at shortstop for a year because I’m not sure if this team is a contender next year with too many holes to fill, they need power in the outfield and some more starting pitching. Right now the guys they have to build around are Vargas, Meidroth, Teel, Peters, Burke, Martin, Taylor, Smith and most of the bullpen. Not sure about Quero but I’d hold on to him another year and see if can rebound. They can’t use Muni as a building block because he might take a walk after next year. BMont was a disappointment but right now I’d keep him as the 4th outfielder. Antman might turn out to be a supersub who can help in the outfield and infield. We do get Baldwin back next year but I have no idea what to expect.

Your optimism a couple weeks ago was founded. This shouldn’t have happened, but the worst trade deadline moves in history contributed to this.

Like I said, he has Vargas. Every GM in the league finds good bullpen arms for a season. Both those guys are old, and their contribution past this season is what?

We will see about Peters next season.
