Hoping to pull another Hagen and see if he can handle 1 or 2 innings better than he was handling a starter role?

Opens up a 40-man spot too. So if Noah goes as a bulk guy today, may see him replaced with Thorpe tomorrow. Or someone else I guess.

I think it is smart to have him for a couple innings against CLE and their lefties. He has been pitching pretty well in AAA

That's very surprising to me TBH. Urquidy is quite possibly the 4th or 5th best starter in the org right now. Sox were going to need a 40-man spot for Thorpe by tomorrow, but I would have expected someone like Junior Perez or Joey Bart to be likelier to get the axe. BTW, this offseason when the 60-day guys all have to be added back will be a bloodbath

Urquidy was 100% not the worst pitcher on the staff, or the one that needed to go overall. But money talks.

Actually Castillo needed to go but you knew that wasn't going to happen.

Eh, I'm fine with this move, happy in fact. Castillo can be dealt with at a later time. The trade looks awful now but I refuse to believe the guy is completely washed. He has a productive offseason hopefully he can be a decent asset next year.

My brother told me to wait and see, Castillo will be huge in the postseason. Now I know my bro is not a heavy drinker so I have no clue what he's thinking.

We really only have 1 more year to pay him which is partially offset by cutting loose Dominguez salary. If Castillo sucks again next year there is no way they will let him get anywhere close to the number of innings needed to trigger the vesting option for the following year. It's not a big deal either way, sometimes you gamble and win and sometimes you lose.

wonder if Schultz opens for Kay tomorrow.
