Twins released LHP Darrell May.

May was never really much of an option as a specialist. After such a disastrous 2005, he barely looks like a major leaguer at all. The 33-year-old posted a 7.71 ERA this spring.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette believes the Pirates would be willing to give up Craig Wilson for John Thomson.

Even though it'd mean taking on $1.45 million in salary. The Braves, though, would probably be more interested in landing bullpen help than a rather expensive player who likely would only platoon initially. The Post-Gazette suggests that the Pirates could add in Salomon Torres in exchange for getting a prospect along with Thomson.

Man, if only there was a way for us to get our hands on Salomon Torres. :(

Keith Foulke?

Man, Foulke's face has gotten fat since he left the White Sox.

edit: now that I see them side by side, his face AND neck have gotten fat. Too much Bahstan beans. ;)

Yes, I figured I was seeing things but appearantly not. I lifted that picture directly from Sim City 2000, kind of odd how Keith Foulke posed to be a fire Marshall for a computer game or they found someone who has an uncanny resemblance to him.

AJ Burnett will start the season on the 15 day DL. I wonder if all those complete games the Marlins Pitchers were throwing at the start of last season did take their toll.

Jeff Kent signed an $11.5 million extension through next season.

Lenny "I do nothing except pinch hit" Harris was released by the Marlins. Guarantee someone will pick him up as their 25th man.

Kevin Appier is headed to the Mariners' Minor League camp.

Ben Sheets feels great after a simulated game.

Diamondbacks waived outfielder Luis Terrero for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

Terrero could have been placed on regular waivers, allowing him to be sent outright to Triple-A Tucson had he cleared. However, the Diamondbacks already have three regular outfielders at Tucson. Terrero will get a fresh start in another organization.

Nationals released outfielder Michael Tucker.

The writing was on the wall for Tucker when Daryle Ward's contract was purchased. He went just 6-for-38 and struck out 15 times this spring.

Devil Rays signed RHP Brian Meadows to a one-year contract.

Meadows will go right into the pen, and we expect this eliminates the chances of the Rays putting Edwin Jackson into the rotation and utilizing Doug Waechter as a reliever. Our guess is that Meadows' below average fastball won't go over very well against the tough lineups of the AL East. He's another Travis Harper for Tampa Bay.

Ben Sheets of the Brewers will start the season on the DL. They want to compete in the NL Central? He MUST stay healthy.

Bronson Arroyo threw 7 shutout innings against the BoSox.

23 year old Gavin Floyd has earned a spot in the starting rotation for the Phillies. 33 y ear old Ryan Franklin, a former starter with the Mariners, is headed to their bullpen.

Javy Lopez will be starting the season as the Oriole's DH, after struggling with the bat while trying to learn first. Presumably this means more playing time for Kevin Millar.

AJ Burnett threw 2 innings in a minor league game for the first time in like 2 weeks. Supposedly his problem was scar tissue breaking loose.

Carl Pavano is out of the Yankee rotation until further notice. Their rotation to start the year will be Johnson, Mussina, Chacon, Wang, and Jaret Wright. I'm sure casinos will give you good odds on which one will be the first on the DL, which one will spend the most time on the DL, and which 2 will be off of the DL at the end of the season? In another brilliant move, the Yankees will use Mr. "Off Day" as their 5th starter for the first few weeks of the season, because no pitcher ever benefits from an extra day of rest.

The Pirates gave a 1 year extension to the contract of their GM Dave Littlefield yesterday. His deal now runs through 08, and has been extended on the last 2 opening days.

The Marlins have had serious discussions about moving to San Antonio.

Derrick Turnbow has himself a shiny new $6.5 million, 3 year deal with the Brew crew.

Todd Jones., the Tigers' hope for a closer this season, will start the year on the DL. The White Sox will visit Detroit April 10th to 13th for a 3 game set which will open the season at Comerica. Jones will not be with them, and Fernando Rodney will re-assume the Closing duties he had last year while Troy Percival was on the DL.

Byung-Hyun Kim and catcher Yorvit Torrealba will start the y ear on the DL for the Rockies.

Mike Cameron, Ryan Klesko, and Doug Brocail will all start the season on the DL for the Padres.

Armando Benitez will start the season on the DL for the Giants.
