With our inability to get get any kind of consistency out of the rotation, and the Twins just man-handling us constantly, I'm starting to think this year is over.

The only positive that can come out of this game would be for McCarthy to throw four-five dominant innings, really forcing Ozzie and Coop's hand.

I've been preaching about our pathetic outfield defense this season (besides for Anderson's range), and it's been a killer tonight. Two fly balls that Mackowiak showed no range on, and Ozuna letting a high pop fly fall for a hit. Meanwhile, Sandy crushed a ball to the gap, and Tyner makes the catch easily.

1.5 GB with 33 to play, pitiful

Add Sandy to the list of guys that we need to wind up on the DL.

It's too late for any of these solutions. There's a month left of the season, and we haven't done anything yet. We're not going to do anything new, and even if we did, it's just too late.

 

We put Contreras on the DL, he misses half of the rest of his starts. We put McCarthy into the rotation, he'll pitch less than 6 inning in half of the rest of his starts because he has to stretch out.

It's really strange at this point to say that the Sox should be concentrating on Detroit, but with the way the Twins are playing, it'll be interesting to see the Tigers can hold them off.
