Ross Gload is one professional hitter.

Rob Mackowiak has started 4 of our last 6 games in CF.

 

There are three things that really astonish me this year:

 

- The predictability of Vazquez's 6th inning blow-ups

- A manager's continue use of a corner outfielder in CF when he has a healthy CF

- Cora's amazing ability to lose this team momentum.

 

If we don't make the playoffs this year, I will stand by my belief that the turning point for our momentum was when he sent Iguchi home in that 2nd game against the Royals last week.

this must be some sort of mistake, somehow the tying run is at the plate

Ross Gload is one professional hitter.

 

He should be our LF/leadoff hitter. Hell, make him taking fielding practice every day this offseason.

I've said this about Contreras for two months now. His best pitch is the forkball.

 

Which is pretty unhittable most of the time. I really don't understand either why he doesn't stick with that pitch much more than he does.

Current Jon Garland + Mark Buehrle every year except 2006 + Jose Contreras from July 05-May 06 + Brandon McCarthy = one of the top starting rotations in baseball.

 

These guys are still not "5.00 ERA" pitchers.

 

The problem that KW will face this winter is the question of whether this season was an aberation or a sign of things to come. If he does nothing and things get worse then he'll catch hell. But I don't know what he can do except give BMAC a chance and leave the rest alone.

So, quietly putting things together.

Greg, ask Hawk what he thinks of Brian. I think him and DJ already think he's one of the 3 best defensive outfielders in all of baseball. Offensively he's hitting over .280 or so since the ASB (IIRC). The guy is a top notch prospect who continues to get better and he is one of the few guys that is actually doing things right.

Post all-star, .281 BA with a .754 OPS. .313 with a .797 OPS in July.

 

BA has had 13 at bats in the past week.

I know PK is slow, but how does he not score on a grounder that he's running on?
