You know the thing about Jackie Robinson was he was the first black player but Larry Doby came on only 12 days later. Am I wrong on the dates here? I always thought that Jackie Robinson was the only black player for a year or two......

I think this is how it went, though I'm not entirely sure -- JR was signed more than a year earlier, but spent a year (1946) in the minors. After he started playing in the bigs the next year, Doby was signed (Wikipedia claims it was 11 weeks after JR began playing with the Dodgers). He did play that year (1947) -- I don't know if he played in the minors at all before joining the big league team.

real bad, when he is away from the Big A, hes meat. Willits looked good in RF and took the count full every time, made solid contact twice, and got a base hit. god i wish willits was in LF for us.

Vladimir Guerrero's wrist came back negative and the injury is being described as a soft tissue contusion of the right wrist.

I said this all offseason and people thought I was crazy.

I'm also looking forward to Michael Young stinking up the joint this next series too.

Michael Young 2007 watch:

Home: .240/.296/.560 (27 PA's)

Away: .160/.192/.160 (26 PA's)

A difference of .504 in OPS.

I saw this yesterday, ya gotta love bosox fans

Mike Mussina and Carl Pavano join Chien Ming Wang in placing 60% of the Yankee starting rotation on the DL.

Bartolo Colon pitched 7 strong innings in his final rehab start.

Kaz Matsui to the 15 day DL with back spasms

Jason Jennings will miss a couple starts with tendinitis. Not sure why he's not hitting the DL.

Byung-Hyun Kim to the 15 day DL with a thumb injury.

Randy Johnson has 1 more rehab start before he joins the big league team.

Jason Schmidt underwent an MRI to try to see why his velocity has dipped to the low 80's.

Troy Glaus and B.J. Ryan both to the DL, Ryan gone 4-6 weeks.

The funny thing is that on SC last night, they made a big deal out of how the guy didnt care about being hit with the pizza and everyone lived happily ever after. Apparently they didnt see the footage of the guy telling him to get his pussy ass over here.

Career OPS:

Against Garland: .583

Against Buehrle: .533

Against Contreras: .404

Against Vazquez: .727

Career at USCF: .654 OPS

So there you go.

LOL at Wrigley being 98 percent empty during extran innings. I thought they were all die hard cubs fans?

I love Geoff Blum.

And in the 14th inning nonetheless.

It's like the "Don't pitch to Robin Ventura with the bases loaded" rule. Don't pitch to Geoff Blum in the 14th inning.

Haha, great call

As I watch Arod smack another one out I wonder if Hawk would still take Crede over him.

Well duh, the bar has been closed since the 7th inning. The drunks start to sober up and look at a crappy park and bad baseball. Why stay again.

Are you SURE it's not April 1?

From Rotoworld, spot-on reaction:

The Phillies have decided to make Brett Myers into a setup man to make room for Jon Lieber in the rotation. He'll work in the seventh and eighth, as well as close when Tom Gordon is not available.

Incredible. This is perhaps the biggest overreaction to a lousy start that we've ever witnessed. Myers earned the Opening Day start for the Phillies after back-to-back fine seasons and had a great spring. He was coming off back-to-back poor starts, but he had struck out 19 in 15 1/3 innings. Short of turning Ryan Howard into a shortstop and benching Jimmy Rollins, we can't think of anything else the Phillies could have done to better sabotage their chances for this year. Myers needs to be held on to in mixed leagues, as the Phillies might figure out in a couple of weeks just how bad of an idea this is. Apr. 18 - 5:07 pm et

There has never been any team more consistently stupid in setting up a bullpen.

Yeah the Phils arent too bright, Myers is just having a slow start, and they think Lieber is a better choice thats ridiculous.

Bonds hit a home run today into Mcovey Cove.

That is one of the dumbest managing moves of all time. Did anybody see Manuels press conference blow up?

Bill Bavasi's worst nightmare has come true.

Felix Hernandez, or being beat to the brilliant idea of moving one of your best starters to middle relief?

It's just funny that they were prohibiting Felix from throwing sliders up until this season because they were afraid it would put too much strain on his elbow. 3 games into the season and he leaves a start in the 1st inning with elbow soreness. Life is a b****.

ARod's good...
