January 2, 201115 yr Oney apologizes - sort of http://deadspin.com/5721493/oney-guillen-a...-but-not-really
January 2, 201115 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) Everyone still think that baseball players dont care what happened and that Oney is irrelevant? If this is a big deal and KW thinks it's a big deal, he should just fire Ozzie now. I can't believe this is a big deal, but if it is a big deal to KW, then fire Ozzie now and bring in Buddy Bell. Some of you should love the plastic type manager who doesn't say anything interesting ever. This should be cut and dried. If people think this is an important thing that's happened with Oney, just let Oz go now. If it's not a big deal, just let big Bobby rejuvenate his career in Boston, which he figures to do. And the Sox hopefully will win big time with Thornton as the closer. Edited January 2, 201115 yr by greg775

It's about his son making private matters public and jeopardizing the integrity of the clubhouse and the organization.
January 2, 201115 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 08:10 AM) Ugh. It's not about Ozzie having a personality or being sometimes a little too colorful. It's about his son making private matters public and jeopardizing the integrity of the clubhouse and the organization. this all sounds like Ozzie/Oney are kind of like George/Lenny from Of Mice and Men. I think we all know what's in store: Oney's gonna tend the rabbits.
January 2, 201115 yr QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) A few points.... • I wonder if twitter would go away if the media didn't keep quoting things people say on twitter. How many people actually use the thing? • I don't see why anybody would give a f*** what Oney Guillen tweets. What does he have to do with anything? If he wants to reveal Bobby's problems, I guess somebody could ask Bobby to comment on what Oney is saying, but it's pretty irresponsible for anybody to quote a nobody like Oney Guillen's twitter posts. Who cares what Oney Guillen has to say on twitter? • I don't see how this involves Ozzie or your feelings about Ozzie at all. This is his kid. He has nothing to do with another grown human being over 21 years old. Why anybody thinks any of this reflects badly on Ozzie is beyond me. If you play for the Sox, you have to expect your worst moments / secrets to be shared with the world. Seems like something you don't have to expect with other teams. Some people are cool with that, I suspect some people would have a problem with that.
January 2, 201115 yr QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) If you play for the Sox, you have to expect your worst moments / secrets to be shared with the world. Or, you keep your mouth shut after you leave.
January 2, 201115 yr If Thornton is angry them im angry. He's definitely one of the players that doesnt read or care about much in the media, and if he took the time to speak out, its a HUGE problem.
January 2, 201115 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) Or, you keep your mouth shut after you leave. Or the enforcer pays you a visit. Nothing like a little organizational retribution to keep the workers in line. Even better if the organization can stand back and say, it wasn't us.
January 3, 201115 yr If Oney doesn't STFU I guarantee you this will be Ozzie's last season, if he even makes it all the way through. Just like Thornton correctly pointed out that you don't air clubhouse or personal stuff on the Internet for retaliation, I find it amazing that within the Guillen family this bonehead is not sat down and told to S.T.F.U. and NOW about all things White Sox. Obviously Bobby was bitter and he shoudn't have made the comment about managing the bullpen (Really, Bobby? Because Ozzie showed nothing but faith in you), but that was no excuse for Oney to go nuclear. Online, to boot. He's not a player, he's not anything but the son of the manager. His opinion is worthless. Except to destabilize the organization, which he has done before. The only thing he's going to accomplish is getting his dad fired. And nobody's going to blame KW when that happens.
January 20, 201115 yr Pale 'n Hosed RT @ESPNChiSox Oz on whether or not his son Oney crossed the line with his Jenks' tweets: "yes he did."

His opinion is worthless. Except to destabilize the organization, which he has done before. The only thing he's going to accomplish is getting his dad fired. And nobody's going to blame KW when that happens. Ozzie knows the unwritten rules of major league baseball better than any of us. Clubhouse stuff is off limits. I'd pretty much guarantee Oney isn't going to have access to any more clubhouse material. He's going to have to live with what he's got, and he is starts blurting that out again, Ozzie will take care of it. I'm not going soft on Ozzie at all. He knows Oney is way out of line here. The other stuff, while we might believe he was out of line, Ozzie probably didn't think he crossed it as far as we think he did. With clubhouse stuff, Ozzie is on the same page with everyone else with Oney's tweets. There is a lot of stuff in Ozzie's past that if some punk spoiled adult not willing to grow up had access to twitter and an axe to grind that could have really embarrassed him.
February 14, 201115 yr Jenks refused to be drawn into a discussion of the disparaging comments made on Twitter by Oney Guillen, son of the White Sox manager, after Jenks was non-tendered by the White Sox and signed with Boston. The younger Guillen, upset that Jenks made a comment about his father not "handling" the bullpen after he was let go, referred to Jenks as a "yellow, beard-dipping idiot" who "cried in the manager's office" and had drinking and marital problems. Ozzie Guillen later said he felt "bad" about Jenks' remarks, but said he was upset that his son had violated clubhouse privacy. Asked what he thought of Oney's comments, Jenks said: "Obviously not much, since I haven't commented, and that's where I'm going to leave it. That's it. I mean, I'm not even going to go [there]." No interest in setting up his own Twitter account? No, Jenks said. "I don't need to get in a battle of words," he said. "He had his moment and that was it." Whole article is probably worth a read if you're interested in Bobby.
February 14, 201115 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) Whole article is probably worth a read if you're interested in Bobby. We didn't even get the "He lost 25 pounds" article. Wow.
February 25, 201115 yr I'm sure this should probably be moved...but looks like Bobby added some ink this winter... Not a fan of it btw...
