He swung at a 3-0 yesterday, so I think he didn't expect a hittable pitch on the 3-0 today. Considering he swung and missed the 3-1 and almost chased the 3-2, I don't think he was being passive.

I don't agree with that at all, if you get on base its a good ab especially with a very capable hitter behind you. Sure he might of had some decent pitches to hit but getting on base is better than not getting on base.
