St. Louis Cardinals vs. Boston Red Sox

I always thought White Sox fans loved the Cardinals due to our hatred of the Cubs.

I think 05/06 changed that a fair amount.

I was positive that the Sox would repeat (or at least play deep into October) during and immediately after the 2006 clowning of St. Louis at the Cell. Instead, the Sox stayed home and the Cardinals champ'd.

f*** this World Series

There are five teams I really can't stand, and two of them are in this WS. I will not be watching.

I'm just glad Detoilet isn't there. But a ring for Peavy and Thornton sounds nice.

I know I do. Go Cards although I like Peavy so I like Boston a little.

This hating of Cardinals fan must be a new thing I'm not aware of, but I am sure as s*** that I hate the f***ing Red Sox fans and pretty much every sports team in the Boston area.

I don't get the Cardinal fan hate, either. I've always found Bahston fans insufferable. I'm an AL guy, but GO REDBIRDS!

Boston will beat these guys. So the AL wins the All Star game and WS in the same year finally.

Time to get the AL domination back.

Cards for sure. They are like the White Sox first cousin. Both hate the Cubs, so I can tolerate them pulling it off (plus it just pisses the Cubs fans off even more). Boston and their fans might be the second worst I despise. (after Detroit of course)

At least we can all agree that Detroit not winning is the prime outcome. Things get more difficult for them with each coming year

I used to feel that way. Now I don't know if Cardinals fans have just become more vocal, but I've come to realize how awful they are and I can't handle it. I have much less exposure to Boston fans if I keep ESPN off, so they bother me less.

After the NLDS, a college buddy of mine wrote an entire Facebook post blaming the Pirates lack of success on the fanbase. He said that if only the fans had shown up more and cared as much as Cardinals fans did, then the team wouldn't have been so bad the last 20+ years. Really?

Pittsburgh fans skullf***ed Johnny Cueto and thus cost Dusty his job.

It's like hating the Braves and Rays, for example.

Hard to hate teams that draft and develop young players so well. Admire, is more like it.

Is there an "overhype" factor now where they're getting too much love and affection and attention, probably.

Almost everything has gone right for them (except for Furcal being injured). Pujuls not coming back. Hiring a manager with no experience. Breakout performances in different seasons/post-seasons from Freese, Carpenter, Jay, Craig, Adams. Yadier Molina morphing into the best catcher in baseball. Beltran, the best post-season player in baseball history. Holliday providing solid veteran leadership. Probably the only hole in the line-up being SS, and still getting good defensive play there.

Then Kelly, Wacha, Shelby Miller, Lance Lynn, Carlos Martinez, Jaime Garcia, Rosenthal, Gast, Siegrist, Motte, Lyons, etc.

It's am embarrassment of riches, almost.

Nah.

People hate the Cardinals because their fans think they're the best in the world. Who the hell gave them the right to make themselves the best fans in the world?

I actually like the Cardinals, but I don't find it odd that other people would dislike them.

The Rays have no fans, they're just a well-run organization. The Braves also don't have entitled fans like that, although their team this year is worth hating alone just for their stupid baseball-police crap.

The Braves fans are horrible.

Between the '91-'93, '95-'05 Consecutive Division Titles and their racist "Tomahawk Chop," they're just highly unpleasant and their team is a bunch of b****ing whining babies.

The Rays actually have a pretty solid fan base, but that stadium is in a terrible location. They make it to the playoff games, but it's just too far a drive on a Wednesday night.

As much as I'm an AL guy, I just can't root for the Red Sox.

I hope the Cardinals sweep the Red Sox just to get it over with as fast as possible.

I'm rooting for a blizzard

I was rooting for a meteor strike during the Detroit/Boston series.

GO ST. LOUIS RED SOX

"Beards vs Birds" in inspired media nicknames

Anyone know if mlb.tv will show the games a day after they're aired on FOX?

I have been to about 10 Rays games in the last 3-4 years. They have a weak fan base and the stadium is not in a terrible location. There is little or no traffic getting to their stadium. It is pretty easy on and off the freeway. Since it is indoor, there is no weather excuse. The Tampa Bay Bucs football team is the 2nd worst draw in the NFL. The area does not have enough fans to support their teams. The transplants continue to root for their home teams and are only casual fans who attend a few games. I am one of them who goes to a few April Rays games before I head north and have yet to go to a Bucs game.

1st inning game 1. After umps corrected blown call, Napoli was up with bases loaded against Wainwright. In that situation. Wainright is looking for a DP grounder. What are the 2 way to get a hitter to hit a GB ? Jam him or low . Napoli takes the 1st 2 pitches which are inside and low. Wainright now has to come in with a strike. Napoli hammers a fastball to the gap to clear the bases.

This should be used by the Sox as the way to approach that situation on every level and with the parent club. Be smart be patient. Think of the situation you're in before you even get to the plate and step out if necessary to readjust.

Cardinals choking hard. Three errors in 1.0 innings so far.

Cards looking like the White Sox . Dropped throw to 2nd base on potential DP grounder. A missed pick up of a double which led to Ortiz scoring from 1st. Wainright lets a popup drop right in front of him in the 2nd inning.

Kozma drops a grounder in the hole. Thats 2 screw ups by him in less than 2 innings. Hope Cards lose the Series they might want to get Alexei :P
