Olt's done his ST hitting against nothing but scrubs, and isn't really tearing it up otherwise. Far from sold on his recovery.

 

Some of the Cubs prospects will be very, very good, if not great. But they won't ALL be, by a long shot. And Theo's enormous ego will likely have him trading the non-studs a bit too late. Theo and Jed are picking up every prospect (slight hyperbole) who they drafted in Boston or San Diego, but failed - it will be fun watching their enormous egos ratcheted down a peg or three.

Arismendy Alcantara (leage-average)

Kris Bryant (over-rated, but possibly above-average)

CJ Edwards (sleeper)

What really amazes me about this team is I've seen 5+ games of their AA teams over the last 2 years and only seen 2 of those guys.

The Cubs are now considering selling minority pieces of the team to help finance the rehab.

I find it interesting that no one has mentioned that the Cubs made $27.3 million last year according to the Forbes survey.

I think Almora will have a good career. He won't be a yearly ALL-Star but he will be one of those consistent guys who plays 10-15 years in the MLB moving from team to team.

If you don't see anything in Almora you are either being ignorant or you may need your eyes checked. Obviously he could bust but I think he's the best bet of having a long ML career because he could play CF defensively in the majors right now.

My fun fact for the day, in honor of the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field: The defunct Chicago Whales of the Federal League and the Chicago Bears of the NFL have won more championships in Weeghman Park/Wrigley Field than the Chicago Cubs. The Chicago Whales ceased operations in 1915.

The Cubs' 1918 WS games were played at Comiskey--not sure why.

 

In 1929, 1932, and 1938, the Cubs went 0-2 at Wrigley.

In 1935 they went 1-2.

In 1945 they went 1-3.

 

Also don't forget that the Bears won 4 NFL Championship games at Wrigley (plus one at Chicago Stadium!)

How fitting for today Cubs blow 5-2 lead in 9th and lost 7-5 I love it. 100 years of losing keeping the tradition alive and well.

Where are you getting your figures for those years? Every place I have looked has 3 games at Wrigley in 1935 and 4 in 1945.

 

OK, I think we're saying the same thing. I'm saying they went 1-2 as in 1 win with 2 losses, and you are saying they went 1-3 as in 1 win in three games.

When my dad was a real little kid his older cousin took him to a game during the 1945 WS. They got tickets at the ticket window day of game.
