Ventura had 33 RBIs in July 1991. Baines has the club record 36 in June '87. Abreu now chasing down the coaching staff.

Abreu is the first player in MLB history to record four 4+ RBI games in his first 26 career games.

Good lord, this man is strong.

Abreu has hit shots off of some really good pitchers too

He won't be worth the money, though. His power is his only tool.

They are about as bad on that as you were on Paulino.

Bad call on my part.

Asked Ventura about his 33 RBI month for the Sox in the wake of Abreu's 31 in April: "Yeah, he's not playing for the next 5 days."

F'N STUD PERIOD!

Man this is fun to witness. Hope sale comes back healthy and we start pitching better

That's classic Ventura.

Also, not just mistakes. He's been killing stuff at the periphery of the zone. Just awesome to watch.

Price became unglued after the bunt he threw away and then when Eaton scored. Abreu almost got him the time before, but it looked like a golf ball when he did take him out. There was an east wind over 30. On a summer day with the wind blowing the other way, that may have had a shot at the concourse.

Which is another reason to be impressed with Carroll. Didn't become unglued after the Viciedo error.

The bad news is that we will see a lot of intentional walks this year. Well, I guess that can be good news.

Ain't been nothing like this since 2003/2004 Frank Thomas.

I use to never miss a Richie Allen at bat then came The Big hurt and now we have Abreau, but this guy seems to do the impossible and apparently hasn't reached his peak.

He's doing this in cold weather. It's crazy

It's actually scary what he's doing in cold weather.

ESPN largely ignored it. FanGraphs liked the move with caution because he wasn't an athletic player and it's hard to know exactly how stats will translate. Abreu's have translated well thus far.

The scary thing to me is that I think he's a better hitter than he's shown thus far. Maybe not power wise, but he looks like a .300+ hitter at the plate.

Can't wait for those 49 and 79 All Star Jerseys.

Heck of a first start and got to love what you are seeing but know there will be a learning curve as the league continues to try and adjust to him. He seems like he has the right head on his shoulders and the right approach to be able to adjust and continue to succeed though. Been a beast thus far.
